You make the call #1

Post by smitty »

Bob Player can't find his tee shot. He enlists the aid of the entire group. They begin searching for Bob's disc, officially noting when the three minute clock starts. The timer goes off on the three minute clock.

As the group is discussing where the "disc was last seen", so that they could determine the lie for Bob's next shot, they stumble upon Bob's disc.

What's the ruling and from where does Bob take his next shot?

You make the call note you have 3 minutes to find a lost disc, not 2.

Strictly by the rules the disc is officially lost after three minutes. In casual or even non pdga events I'm with you guys .... let the group decide. In a pdga event that will work too as long as someone in the group doesn't decide to make an issue of it later ... or as long as an official is not in the group. As an official in a PDGA event the official is bound by his honor and commitment to make the call. Failure to do so could result in the official loosing his credentials and the tournament loosing its sanction and therefore the points for the players who played by the rules.

Bob plays from where the player in his group agree the disc was last seen. He is assesed a one stroke penalty for lost disc.

Specifically it is in bounds where the majority of the group agrees the disc was last seen (this can include the player with the lost disc as he is a member of the group) ... or an official can make the call if the group is not able to come to a majority call. Although technically the official that is a member of the group could possibly over rule the majority (if he is stupid enough to try)

Still a one stroke penalty applies

I am going to have to give you half credit for that one Jerry.

I agree that it is a 1 stroke penalty.

The disc is not throw OB, it is in some tall weeds. Like behind basket 4(?) at Oak park.

A player whose disc is declared lost, shall receive one penalty throw. The approximate lie for the player's next shot shall be marked in-bounds nearest the spot where the disc was last seen, as agreed to by a majority of the group or an official.

Superman spins the earth backwards eliminating the 3 minutes & you play the disc without penalty. Throw it & hit another Tree. That's what I would do, ROG aka Woody
