At the annual meeting we scheduled a meeting for Saturday, Feb. 8th for the purpose of getting membership input on the short term and long term goals for the ACDGC.
Unfortunately, the recent snow storm means a lot of people probably wouldn't make it to the meeting ... and, since the board feels it's very important for everyone who wants to have input to have the opportunity to do so we feel compelled to postpone the meeting.
We are hoping to re-schedule for one of the remaining Saturday's in February, but need to check on availability of the Water Center before announcing the new date.
That information, and other posts about the meeting will be made under this topic, as well as through emails to our entire mailing list, the acdgc website, and the acdgc facebook page.
Please help spread the word on the cancellation so no one shows up needlessly.

Our time has come!
Disc golf in Wichita and around the world is swelling in popularity, being called by many the fastest growing "new" sport. And, relatively speaking, this forty something sport is still very new.
And that's what makes it exciting as more people finally discover what we already know; this game is a fun, challenging and rewarding sport! It's far more than a leisurely stroll in the park and tossing a "Frisbee" around. (Not to disparage a fun past time enjoyed by millions over the years).
This is the time the Air Capital Disc Golf Club has been working towards. Our prime directive has been to promote and support the sport we all love to play so much. And we, along with other local clubs, state associations and the international PDGA are now seeing the blossoming of the fruits of our labor. But, this is only the beginning of the best of times for disc golf.
To build disc golf into a self-sustaining sport with a lasting place in the annals of professional and amateur sports we must become clear on what we need to do to feed the swell and ride this wave of popularity into the future. We must be dedicated and willing to put forth the effort to do what is needed to accomplish this lofty long term goal and the short term goals that are necessary to get us there.
This is what is at stake. This is our opportunity.
The excitement and energy that has kept so many of us playing for decades now and has caused so many more of us to join the ranks of the disc golf community is now spreading. And it is this energy that we can harness to light a fire under the powers that be to get with the program and provide more opportunities for more people to discover and enjoy playing disc golf in Wichita and South-central Kansas.
It is this energy that we can direct to bring more people into the club to join us in accomplishing great things for disc golf and building the sport for future generations. And, in coming together as a community of disc golf enthusiast who love to have a good time - competing with, learning from and just spending time together.
Most importantly, it is our privilege to fuel the movement with more:
• Exhibitions to introduce disc golf to others
• Clinics/Workshops to help disc golfers from the novice to the pro to improve their game
• Events, large and small, to feed disc golfer’s hunger for competition and camaraderie
• New ideas to inspire and encourage others to join our cause

This is where, when and how
Come to the Water Center meeting room at the Herman Hill Disc Golf Park, enter through the south door. Meeting begins at 12 noon and will continue through 2 p.m.
The meeting will be structured in a way to maximize the opportunity for ordered and focused input from everyone who wishes to speak. If you can’t make the beginning then come when you can. Come even if you don’t think you have anything to say, you might be surprised and, at a minimum, you will have a chance to learn more about where we are going as a club and what you can do to help us get there.

We had a productive meeting last month to begin to establish short term and long term goals for the ACDGC. Thank you to all of you who were able to attend and contribute.
The next step ahead is to take action on the short term goals. Many of them are already in process due to previous actions taken by the board. Many others were on the boards “radar” but needing refinement and organization. And there were some new ideas that need to be developed and a plan of action put into motion.
