Kansas State Team Championships
Kansas State Team Championships
Kindy gave me a date, Aug. 13th adn 14th.
More details to come, but should be close to this:
Each team captain would have to fill a 5 player roster.
1) Open (Doesn't have to be)
2) Master or Older
3) Advanced (Rating lower then PDGA standard)
4) Am (Rating lower then PDGA standard)
5) Swing Player (Women, Jr., Senior Grand Master, Am Master)
If we go with a 7 man roster.
1) Pro 1
2) Pro 2
3) Master +
4) Am 1
5) Am 2
6) Am 3 (Advanced Master or Senior Grand Master)
7) Swing Player (Women or Jr.)
1's will play 1's, 2's vs. 2's etc.
We will have 3- 9 hole course set-up. Teams will play a round robin (match play) tournament on the different courses. We may need pools if we get enough teams, that is all still up in the air. The round robin event will take place on Saturday. Sunday will be for the finals. The number of teams to qualify is still to be determined. The finals will start late in the morning, early in the afternoon.
All teams that don't qualify will have a chance to qualify starting early Sunday morning. They will go into what is called the "MIX MASTER". At least 1 team will come out of the MM. The MM format will be different. It will be stroke play. There will be 3 formats that the captain can place his players in with no regulation. Two of the players will play normal doubles. Two will play Alt. shot doubles. The final player will play singles. Each of the 3 courses will be designated as a different format.
The "Plan" is to have 2 divisions.
Town/Club/Course - All members must live in or near a town. (limited by geography)
Open - Members can come from any place.
We haven't decided on a cost yet. We are still in the planning stages. The hope is to have a disc and shirt to give out to each player. A BBQ/Party on Saturday night. Free camping. Something special for all team captains.
Please ask any questions of Kindy or myself. This event is still in the planning stages. We are hoping to host it in August if everything works out with the Camp Hawk people.

Re: Kansas State Team Championships
This event will be a "Bragging Rights" event. There will be no additional payout beyond the players pack.
Money made from this event will go to the Newton club to be used on course improvements and additional Newton golf courses.

5 or 7 person roster?
Re: Kansas State Team Championships
Thanks for getting the discussion started.crispinthomascarrasco wrote:5 or 7 person roster?
That is a question we started kicking around and need a little feedback on. Here is the problem. Wichita can fill several of either size teams. Salina maybe could fill 2. Hays would be lucky to get 1. Pratt is probably SOL.
We are currently leaning towards 5.
Another thing is what do we do with people who don't have a way to make a full team. DM4 and the Snodgrassed quickly jumped to my mind. Two things really could happen. They could be part of an Open team. They could also be absorbed by the closest course/city team.
None of this really matters. Since "The Valley Boys" are most likely going to take the title.

the valley boys are the best
Re: Kansas State Team Championships
As Smitty has stated this badass event is happening. I will get you more details in due time. There will be a meal on Saturday night of the event and free camping at Camp Hawk. We will also have beer friz and ddc if people are up for it. Also understand that this tourney will be about bragging rights and some sweet trophies. There will be a player pack for every player. As I work out the details I will post them here. Expect something every so often from now until August on this forum.

Not sure whether the 5 or 7 person team would be better, but will be there for sure to find out!

Um, don't know how to tell you this without hurting your feelings. You have to live in Winfield to be on our team.

Re: Kansas State Team Championships
"our team" as in Team Hanious Axe from the Witches Tiity, Chump. I will not use the word slaughter, because the plan is to give you guys a close second place so you will be encouraged to come back in 2012 and try again
Re: Kansas State Team Championships
We are all about Peace, Love and Plastic here in the Valley buddy.
We better stop talking so much smack we will probably scare all the other teams away.
ICT should/could have 2 or more teams.
Hays- Scoop up DM4 and bring it.
Newton- Will the host city bring the Swede out of retirement?
What about Salina? I have the perfect name for them.
Emporia?
Topeka?
Any of the KC courses?
Hutch?
Lets do this!
