WARNING: If GoPed gets stuck. DO NOT PUSH HIM OUT! You will be covered with mud and ruin you favorite shirt, and he will just laugh at you and drive off.

Sounds like you speak from experience.
How does the chalk work? You carry some in a container and wipe it on the disc before you throw? Seems like it would just blow off, but I've heard it works ok. Bring some and give it a go.

1pm tomorrow. Bring a snow shovel. We'll get the tees marked & shovelled. May make a some holes shorter yet for the conditions. Start getting the course stomped down. Might try a ribbon experiment out.
By the way, I'll stop by Oaklawn after work next week once things start melting. Grab any plastic anyone might happen not to find. I'll post the findings and have them at league. I have some that have already been turned in to me from Mark. I'll bring those with me to the Bowl.

I don't know if i could do the chalk trick. Seems like it would make the disc slippery if it gets on your hands and also i dont know if i would want the mess of it getting all over . after 2 rounds of disc i am sure it would just be a freeking mess.lol i do know the yarn works great and have mine all done and ready and my fried rick has his done also. we are set . got around $90 for the tourney this year . The ice bowl and the wichita, newton and arc city toy runs are the four charitys i never miss. If no one says it I will say it right now. "Thanks mike (and all who help out) for all the work you do for this charity event . I know I am glad to be a part of it every year and am so looking forward to finaly get to do one in the snow here in Wichita. Gonna be a true ICE BOWL worthy of its name. WOOOT WOOOT

Don't forget Mike will have a pile of KDGA Food Drive discs. These will cost you $15 (they include a $9 charity donation). Not only will you get a great disc, you will also get your name in a raffle drawing for a Discraft Chainstar.

Re: 21st Annual Wichita Ice Bowl, 1/31/2010
Course work went well today. Thanks to Scott Miller, Ryan Doyle, & Mike Speer. Got all the tee cleared off and flagged. Moved a few shorter: Holes 1,11,12,18. A few more righty angles this year. Course looks great.
Most of Wichita got 5-7" of snow, but only 2" out at Oaklawn! We threw about 50 shots or so after we were done working. Only one shot ended up under the snow.
So come on out to have some fun tomorrow morning. Please show up by around 8:30 or earlier if you are bringing baskets to make it easier to get set up.
This year will be one to remember. See you tomorrow!

Looks to be cool and / or cloudy enough where it shouldn't be muddy yet tomorrow. Lt. winds though, 4-8 mph! So it shouldn't feel that cold. Looks like we lucked out after all.

Re: 21st Annual Wichita Ice Bowl, 1/31/2010
Wooot Wooot . Man was that a fun Ice bowl. Hey Mike great job on running the tourney and on your ace. Robin, Bill, Bob alos great job on making things work so smothly. The other people behind the desk also really had thier A game on and really made things go as smooth as any ice bowl i have ever been to. The kitchen staff did great. it was nice to bring home not only an empty crock pot (thanks Discers for chowin down) but also a clean crock pot. Thanks to the discin gods for great weather and NO lost discs that I heard of. My bag isn't missing a disc and even got my water bottle back.
That was a blast and will start saving for an even bigger one next year.

Re: 21st Annual Wichita Ice Bowl, 1/31/2010
One of the best Ice Bowl's I've been a part of took place last Sunday. Just 2 days before the event, 5+ inches of snow fell in the area, casting some doubt on the event attendance. Turned out Oaklawn got just a dusting of a couple inches. The day of the tournament began with an ice fog. A beautiful frost stayed on the trees on into the afternoon, I hope somebody took some pictures. Temps for the day ranged from 14 - 27 degrees F. Just cold & cloudy enough not to make a big wet mess of the place. And the light winds made the cold temps bearable. 58 players this year and no DNF's! And the only lost disc reported has been found.
A huge thanks is due to all the volunteers that helped make this event a success. Ryan Doyle, Scott Miller, & Mike Speer cleared the tee pads of snow & got the course ready for play. Bob Decker helped get everything going before the event. Scott Miller & Josh Lunistra got baskets on & off the course, no small job there. John Stoneburgh, Taylor Camp, Bob Decker, Bill Paulson, & Robin Reimer helped with registration & scorecards & payouts. They did a tremendous job keeping us organized and on track. Didi Schoenhofer & Robin helped with getting all the food ready and cleaning up afterwards.
Thanks espescially to our sponsors. Scott Miller bringing in Fox & Hound once again took the event to the next level. Bob with Heibert & Decker CPA's gave $100 donation. Buddy Kassner also brought a $100 donation and SRS sponsored Steve Brown with a $60 donation. Lots of superlatives for our event this year, but the one that we should be the proudest of is our donation to the KS Foodbank. I'll post the official amount when we cut a check, but it looks like we are looking at $1900+, easily a record! Thanks to everyone for coming, bringing baskets & food, & supporting our fundraising effort. The ACDGC has a lot of good people, and with events like this, it really shows. I hope everyone had a great time and I'm already looking forward to doing this again next year.

Looks like the course layout played out well also. Looking over the cards- every single hole was 2'd. I believe the only person to get a 2 on hole 1 did it both rounds: Ben Wiggins. Ron Unruh made 2 on hole 16 both rounds.

Re: 21st Annual Wichita Ice Bowl, 1/31/2010
He tried playing the big hyzer route, but couldn't get it high enough quick enough. So he played an anny stall shot through the tunnel & up over the trees. Pretty cool route. Buddy was down there putting with a good flick. Junod birdied it lefty. This year there were 10 lefty holes, 5 righties, & 3 neutral.
