Played it today. Shortest Daniels layout in history. Shot 10 down with a missed putt and several bad drives.

Hole 1- Only 220 feet this year. Same tee, as normal. Should be a pretty simple hyzer shot. The basket is the biggest problem. You are going to want to be close, it is a split instep.

Hole 2- Only about 250 feet. The basket is a hanger in the normal spot for hole 1. It is pretty dang tall. Pretty straight shot with a little right hand finish. There is 1 tree in the middle of the fairway that makes this hole tough. The tree combined with the slight uphill shot. One of the best holes on the course.

Hole 3- Less then 200 foot. Same downhill shot as last year. Drop a putter and miss the middle tree and you are parked.

Hole 4- Another cool hole. You are throwing up the hill. This year the basket is on the short edge of the slope. Last year you just smashed a drive over the top of the hill and had a putt. This year you need to float it over the hill so you can have a death putt. I put 3 drives 10 feet from the pin and all 3 ended up at the bottom with a tricky 100 foot upshot. The basket is attached to a tree and tall.

Hole 5- Another shorty, probably 210. Down the tunnel and to the right. The basket is swinging on the edge of the slope.

Hole 6- Super short! Probably 150 foot tops. This is the basket that plays to the machine. The basket is coming out of the steering wheel and probably 15 feet in the air. The problem with this hole is that the entire machine is a bunker UD shot

Hole 7- Pretty much the same out of the woods into the ocean shot. Just much shorter then normal. I like the flick off the tee, but wizzed a couple of putters past the chains.

Hole 8- Grab a driver! 420 foot with tall grass to the right that shouldn't come into play.

Hole 9- Looks like a miniature hole from the classic "Ocean" layout. 150 foot tops with no trouble at all.

Hole 10- The classic hole from the Ocean to the trees. It has been on every ocean hole I think. It is just shorter this year, probably 220. When you get to the pin it is a split basket. This one is kind of fun to putt at. If you nail chains your putter will deposit into the basket.

Hole 11- Another classic "Ocean" hole. The tee is between two trees with a low ceiling shooting out into the ocean. All the same and this hole is probably no shorter then it has been in the past.

Hole 12- Another classic hole. You throw from the ocean to a basket located between the 2 lines of hay bales. Same as always, only shorter.

Hole 13- Another classic hole. You tee and are forced to shot a gap between the trees. You have to get down the fairway and turn to the right. You turn early and you are hosed! This hole is probably 300. It is the same hole as it was last year.

Hole 14- Same hole as last year, just much shorter. This hole is probably 140 foot. You tee from a the ocean and the only problem is around the basket. Another hanger on the edge of the cliff.

Hole 15- A new hole from previous years. It is another 200ish putter/hyzer shot.

Hole 16- Maybe the shortest hole I have ever played in my life. It might be 120 feet. You tee from above the pin. Then pin is down a narrow trail, with a nasty drop off along the entire right edge. The basket is laying on the ground. It is the shortest hole with the shortest basket.

Hole 17- This is a pretty cool hole. You tee just short of a steep hill. You have to hit a gap and make your disc finish to the right.

Hole 18- I am sure will go over the river during the frizz. Now it is just another 130ish dump hyzer.

The year we played the long course out there is still my favorite set-up of all time. I felt like that course was perfect. If you were in the tall grass you were OB. There were landing zones to throw short to, right turning fairways, left turning fairways, and probably on of the best holes I have ever played. Hole 1 use to be KILLER!

This course will be a faster play for sure. The problem that I see is when we are going across the river, all the holes other then that are going to be so short that we may have 10 groups waiting on the tee.

Bummer. Hole 1 was one of the only great holes left at the Friz. Daniels was the only good course they had left, and it looks like it's been dumbed down too now. Not that the terrain is bad for any of the courses, just design changes in the wrong direction. And that river hole has just got shorter and shorter every year. Now it's just a shell of its former life. Why play over the river at all? Just adds hours to the round and hours to the wait for the people playing the North course.

I think people will enjoy the newest design. Every hole but 2 can be reached by 90% of the people playing.

I agree the first design was killer and it has went downhill every year. Just have to make the best of what we have.

Sounds to me like a few people including myself are busy in the afternoon on Sundays, having league on Sunday in the evening would work better then the middle of the afternoon.

We played, it was about what I figured.

Harv and Smitty -16 (missed a short hole and the 1 tester)
2 teams at -14

I have a $20 bill to the first team/person that shots -18 and knows the password.
