Re: Doo Dah 2009
Here's a video from yesterday. Watch the A pool try to clear the pond at Oak.

Re: Doo Dah 2009
Had an awesome weekend. Great way to play those courses for the first time. Big props to everyone that made it happen. I'll definitely be back again.
Re: Doo Dah 2009
Way to go ACDGC.
I had a great time as usual.
We had a crew at the Fox and Hound after the tourney. I think next year we need to spread the word even more and show them how much we thank them for the sponsorship.
See you all next year.

Re: Doo Dah 2009
It did turn out to be a great event.
Thanks to all the people that helped out: Disc Golf Mom, Scott & Andy Miller, Chris Tyler, Nick & Deb, all the people who showed up for the work days, and of course, Randy, for stepping up to run it. The Doo-Dah wouldn't have been so succesful without all the help. Thanks guys & gals!
Next year, I'll get started a little earlier so I can put out ALL of the OB string
Ya'll thought that was bad, but I still had a whole roll of string left. Maybe I can borrow some of that Ace Fund $ from Rich to go buy some more

Re: Doo Dah 2009
I really don't know why you needed any of the string?
One thing that would be helpful would be only have the distances for the holes we are going to play. It was kind of hard to figure out what X, Y, and Z pin were.

Re: Doo Dah 2009
It was on the map. X pins are marked long. All the pins were long. The left side of the map was for X pins, so if you could figure out which tee you were playing (blue is long on even numbers), it was easy. Not sure how it could be any easier without making a seperate document and marking for red, blue tees instead of long & short. Maybe we'll do that next year.

Re: Doo Dah 2009
Huge list of sponsors this year. Hope you all can get a chance to come back to Wichita and use your vouchers. Thank the sponsors every chance you get.
I'm not sure that those volunteers that made this year's tourney happen were adequately recognized at the event. He're who I'd like to thank.
Randy! You did a great job with this event. Keeping the cool and handling first time stuff on the fly was no problem. Randy also made our workdays happen and did a heck of a job making our courses look nice. Thank you!!
Everyone else who helped with the workdays. I don't want to forget to mention anyone. You know who you are. Thank you!
Robin & Miranda. These gals are the ones responsible for seeing everything got taken care of. They took on one task after another and it made a huge difference! From sponsor signs to OB string to everything in the tourney player packs... the list goes on & on. Thanks!
Deb & Nick. Provided pizza was awesome! Thanks for your sponsorship!
Chris Tyler. This guy really is a super nice! Wherever the help was needed, he was there. Thanks for you support!
Scott & Andy. Bringing in the Title sponsor, year after year. Got water on the courses, took pictures, painted 10m circles. You guys rock!
Crispin. Flags were great in helping with getting everyone to the right tees at both courses. The tournament is over, have your baby already. Sorry for running over your aviar!
Not least, the Wichita Parks Department. Courses were beautiful.

I recall a bunch of "unneccessary" OB at the Frizz; did ya'll get criticized?smitty wrote:I really don't know why you needed any of the string?
It was a group decision made at a planning meeting; we wanted to prevent players from trying throw from down by the river because their disc is "safe" (not surrounded by water). On 16, we decided it would save time if people weren't looking for their discs in the tall grass & creek area.
So why was it a problem; plan your shots accordingly next time.Schoen-hopper wrote:It was on the map.
Re: Doo Dah 2009
The distances were confussing. We play the same pins every year. It would take about 2 minutes to make a Doo Dah distance file for Herman Hill. Red course/Blue course just like Oak. It is much easier.
As far as the OB string. I don't know what you are talking about with the Frizz. Or is it my concern? It would be very simple to say if you throw over the edge of the river bank bring your disc to the top stroke free. Not a concern to me, my disc was well into the river.
The OB on 16 made it a little crazy. If you are in the creek or water you are OB that is simple. Here is the problem that came up on my card: Two in the tall grass and one on the Sidewalk. Was the Sidewalk OB? We looked at our map and couldn't find anything about hole 16. We did find some info about the water center sidewalk. What if his disc would have skipped over the sidewalk and into the grass? OB or safe? The map didn't say.
One last thing, Hole 6.
Why not make the last tree in the fairway a mando also?

Great time and two beautiful days of Dgolf (The wind on Saturday was all part of the Kansas beauty). Thank you's go out to every one in the acdgc who put time and effort toward the tourney and all others who helped both days run smoothly. Rock on! See you in Winfield!
