Doo Dah 2009

The ACDGC will be running this event. Randy Mattingly has stepped up to TD. I'll be working with him closely. Though I "could" be the TD, I have been working 60+ hours some weeks and putting 15+ into league and course work. And I'd like to have some life leftover and I don't know if I'd give the event the time or thought investment it needs if taking it on myself.

The decision for the ACDGC to run the event is basically for the sake of our club. We have more member than any other club in the state (not counting KCFDC). I know some new blood is going to want to step up and help out again this year. This had nothing to do with money (unlike most tourneys, our club doesn't profit from our events). And this decision definitely didn't have anything to do with not appreciating Dynamic Disc's offer to help.

We could probably still use some help if the offers are still out there. Randy should be sending our applications in. What can we do to make the Doo Dah better this year? How can we get more people to come (over 100 for a B tier)? Anyone know the ins and outs to effective online registration? How about posting scores between rounds/days? I already addressed my concerns about the payouts & PDGA financial report, so we are going to need to work through that. Maybe this shouldn't be all public business, but I want the event to be successful. So the more planning, the better. Any advice appreciated.

One thing we can start doing now is looking for sponsors for this event. That is probably the biggest key to any event's success.

As long as the you have some sort of internet access, uploading the scores between rounds is as easy as copy paste. (Same with pre-registration.)

I know some businesses that are very interested in sponsoring disc golf events.
Can we post a sponsorship form here? That way anyone can print it off & go recruit sponsors.

That's a good idea. I'll get Randy's information on there and update any other info. Then I can email this out to whomever is interested. I may try to paste the info here, but I don't it will be very readable or printable.

Why did we change the date this time? Lat year it was the previous weekend.
I was talking to some K.C. people & they pointed out that we picked the same weekend that the KC Wide Open is usually on.

Ok- nevermind. On the KCFDC they have the Wide Open listed for last weekend of May. No worries

So, I checked the PDGA schedule & the KC Wide Open is listed on there already. We should get the Doo-dah listed ASAP; it may encourage the players that go to KC to stay in the area & play here the next weekend. Maybe we could also post something on the forum encouraging that.

Also, I guess there is something where the old TD (Bob) needs to sign off on the deal or the PDGA won't sanction it. I guess so someone doesn't highjack a tournament. They won't really know that Doo Dah is an ACDGC thing, to them it's the TD's tournament.

I agree that you guys should get this done quickly. Lincoln, NE already has their B-tier scheduled for the same weekend as the Doo-Dah, and that's likely to draw some players from the KC/Topeka area up that way.

I sent the Sanctioning Agreement to Randy. I think he's been really busy lately. I'm sure he'll get it sent in soon.

I got the documents all filled out and have fowarded them to Bob. He plans on going over them this weekend and sighning off his part and they should be submitted shortly.

You have several people who will be a real asset to making this the best Doo Dah ever. Robin always seems to be very helpful. Mike will make sure the courses are ready to go, we all know that. Bill is always a steady person to have on your team at HQ. Crispin and Chris Tyler both know the ins and outs of the electronic spread sheet.

Now hurry up and get this sucker on-line.

If you want on-line registration, I know a place that could probably do that for a small fee.
