Hays/Colorado State Championships Conflict

Post by jnotty »

The Colorado State Championships are set for the second week in September this year, due to the location and weather patterns that can arrive if they move it any later. This conflicts with The Frontier Open, and could seriously hurt the turnout for Hays, or at least the colorado following. I would love to come back to Hays for the 25th annual, but when there is an A-tier 40 minutes from home on 2 sweet mountain courses, I am going to have trouble making it back. I was actually all ready spreading the word about Hays to all colorado folks until I found that the dates are the same. Sue B is also promoting Hays big time. I think we could have a killer Colorado turnout, like the old days, if it was on maybe the third weekend of Sept. instead. I just don't believe anybody is going to pass up an A-tier this close to travel to Hays, even though Hays is awesome. Not everybody out here knows that though. Not trying to stir the pot up and piss everybody off, especially Straight. Just thought if something could be changed, that maybe starting earlier than later would be better. Consider it please.

Who the hell is Joe Hesting????
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Did the PDGA move the CO event from its usual time of year? To the best of my knowledge the Frontier Open has traditionally been on the weekend following Labor Day...

Joe,

This was brought to my attention a couple weeks ago, and all I can do is call the TD and ask him to consider moving his date to another weekend. We have been advertising the 25th since the 21st. If you look in the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th annual booklet we have been promoting this date since 2005. Furthermore, the Frontier has always been on the same weekend. I can't rationalize changing our date on the eve of the 25th, the milestone I vowed to see it to. There has been five years worth of planning and promoting this date. We've had to contend with Missouri and Oklahoma hosting tournaments on the same weekend the last couple of years and now it appears Colorado too. I hope something can give, it would really suck not seeing all my Colorado people the final year I TD this event.

Maybe you can help me get some petitioners from Colorado. Just a list of people who would normally attend both events when not on the same date.
