Re: The Roundup stuff is off to the PDGA

Someone else needs to kick ass so that their time can be donated to try to give you complainers a good ass-kicking, etc.
When you have to choose between your woman and discgolf, don`t be stupid-choose the discgolf.

Okay Smitty. As I see it, the only reason a person has to post something on the internet instead of calling me personally is because they simply have a need to make me look bad. What a waste of everyone's time. I can do that very well on my own, thank you. If it's so simply, why don't you stick around and help get it done next time instead of wasting the time it takes to make these posts. Ditto to everyone else that chooses a public forum to air their complaints when they don't have the courage to contact me themselves and ask why it isn't done yet.
If one has the courage to contact me first and I don't explain things to their satisfaction and have refused their offer of help, then they are justified in attempting public humilation to get me off of my butt.
Friz-Rocker: Interesting filter that you ran that quote through. It might need turned up a little though. I'm not certain that my true feelings have really come through yet.
Thanks

P.S. According to PDGA rules, a "B" tournament has 30 days to complete and file the TD report. Ratings do not become official until that is done. Only official ratings are used when the ratings updates are done. I have never missed the filing deadline for a TD report, contrary to comments made by Smitty or anyone else.
There is no requirement that a TD post the scores, etc. to the website and, even if that is done, those scores are temporary ratings and cannot be used for ratings updates until the official TD report is filed.
To do the official TD report right, including the finances, takes many hours of work not the 30 minutes that Smitty claims.
If you don't trust me and think I'm lying, contact the PDGA and check out my facts.

Bob,
I don't see why you're getting so upset. I did contact you before posting on this discussion. I only pointed out the facts: our club is not in good shape- you just confirmed it. We don't have enough volunteers & things don't get done in a timely fashion. Only a couple of months ago, we were supposed to put on a clinic in exchange for using the park in Oaklawn for the Ice Bowl. That would have been a great opportunity to get some new players. I would have gone to help, if there was more than a couple days notice about it. That was pretty sad because apparently you & whoever else had known about it since February.
Maybe Smitty has a point & we should let Rusco run our tournaments. It might even entice more people to come with the Dynamic Discs name attached.
You think everyone else is bitching, but look in the mirror. If you don't have time, then don't do it. Then you won't have to make up excuses.

Difference of opinion. I didn't say Mike & Bob don't do a good job, I said they need more help. Why don't you volunteer? The ACDGC doesn't really need cheerleaders, or do they?
I don't know anyone besides you that wouldn't attend a tourney in their hometown just because Dynamic Discs was running it.

Bob that is the funniest thing you have posted since "go sit on a snake".Eaglehigh99 wrote:Okay Smitty. I does bug the crap out of me that the ACDGC (instead of Bob) doesn't use the PDGA TD report. It does all the work for you, figures payout, is easily uploaded, figures total scores. This is a problem with every Wichita event, the results are late getting to the PDGA.
Basically what I am saying is use the tools the PDGA gives you. Cut your workload in half and make everyone happy.
This is my original post edited to not make it an attack on Bob. I didn't intend it to start as an attack on Bob, it just came off that way. I think with Bob as the TD for the event, all comments are directed at him and not all the people who "are" helping run the event.

I guess I will chime in again since I am the one who initiated this whole ordeal.
I wasn't trying you "complain" about you Bob, but it came across like that since you're the only one in Wichita who ever does anything at the local tournaments (the good tournaments), (Save Mike, Robin, and Miranda sometimes too.)
I say, if you're a person who works 65 hours a week, you wouldn't have much business running any disc golf tournaments. But sadly, if some people don't step up and do things, they will never get done.
It seems that the when it comes to disc golf, people have problems with delegation. When something needs to be done, tell someone to do it. And if they don't do right, if you step in and do it for them, they aren't learning and you're enabling the problem. (Keep in mind when I say you, I mean a person in general.) Golfers are very excited at the prospect of bigger and better tournaments, new courses, but when it comes time to throw down, they can't be found.
I don't know why people wouldn't want to step up and help run these touraments though (Doo Dah and Round-up). There is much to be gained from them. Good events, fun, and there are loads of casual golfers there that people would love to hook into the more organized area of the sport (PDGA) But it's hard with a $10 nonmember fee. Talk to Rusco about the casual division the PDGA suggested to run at Monkey Island. (Great Idea)
I think think that there isn't any reason that the DooDah shouldn't attract 120 players next year. It would be nice if there would be maybe even 20 Pro's, they'd love it. Take advantage of Innova's CFR program to raise more added cash for the divisions, and just order less regular custom stamped discs perhaps.
And the Roundup would attract more Oklahomans if it was maybe a 1day B-tier Vs. an C-tier. The requirements aren't a whole lot higher, and like before the CFR discs can help raise this extra money.
There are many people around who have the resources to run good PDGA events, Smitty, Myself, Rusco, Mike (with some help, who has been very quiet on this subject btw), and I don't know if Randy Mattingly is an Official or not, but he does run other events in the Wichita area.
I'll put my money where my mouth is, as soon as you ACDGCers start planning the Doo-Dah, I am in. Just tell me what you need and I'll get it done!
