Big thanks to Scott Haynes!! and all the other Flying B's that helped out. I think Smitty would probably give you pimp status. You the man Scotty!

Amazing, incredilbe, epic; these might be a few words to describe my experience this year. First with the Brewery and the Flying Bison Rye beer, it feels great to be reckognized by the community businesses. Then how I reflected back on my own roots and this course. What it means to me? I bet I've spent more time disc golfing at Frontier in my lieftime then I have shaving or getting a haircut. I've buried many personal issues on that course. I love it. I love what Ron built physically and socially.

When I knew we were close to cracking the Century mark, I said I'll do cartwheels all the way down the fairway on 8 if we did, and I am a man of my word. Then the huge Colorado turnout, classic I counted at least 15. I'll get back with the final on that. I thought the trophies were cool. Oh by the way don't dishwash, hand wash only.

Then playing a round with two 1000 rated players, and two ol' homeboys. Priceless. Wow! McCabe is an executioner. I only saw two errors/mistakes his first round. Honest critique and review, he might agree. He face masked a very doable putt and took a three on hole 1. He had an errant approach on 8 and took a bogey. He still shot -13 with two mistakes!!!!Two bogeys all weekend? Sick! I like to think the charma of people on the card inspired it.

I visited an old friend after my trip to OzZfes this yeart. On his grave it read, "The things I believe in family, friends and music. They haven't let me down yet." I agree, and the only thing I would add? The Flying Bison Disc Golf Course in Frontier Park.

The Frontier has always been one of my favorite tourneys and this year didn't disappoint. Brett Straight and crew did an amazing job preparing for this. The course was in incredible shape. Those 10m circles and all the OB chalk must have been a lot of work! Things ran amazingly smooth for 106 players on one course. Didn't hear any complaints, but did hear a lot of compliments.

Frontier Park has always been one of the greatest courses in the state and I think it is still right at the top of the list. Amazing variety of shots out there with some holes that require some strategy. I've never put a good tourney together there, but I will always be back to keep trying!

How about the beautiful weather. How often do you get calm conditions in Hays? Drizzle the first round wasn't so bad we got soaked.

35 Under for Emac?! That has to be a tournament record, doesn't it? Some of the holes didn't play their hardest configurations this year, but we got a taste of a few that we didn't play last year. Funny how as the course got harder, the SSA stayed the same, probably due to the improving weather.

How about Emac winning the Ring of Fire twice, and giving up his prizes? And then to top it off, he aces the ace money playoff hole!! That was way too cool. We are lucky to be able to witness this kind of world class talent! Keep it going in TX, Emac!

Hats off again to Str8 for doing up the Frontier Open in top notch fashion.

It was great to see everybody in Hays this weekend.

AWESOME EVENT. STR8 and crew were awesome! There was an f-ing beer made just for the tournament, how killer is that? Ruder ripped it up Sunday(he's always hitting sweet lines with smooth style) When Hickman's putting is on, he is brutal. Nate Martin was nailing ridiculous shots all weekend. My brother went from like 15th to 6th the last day(keep rippin'). Tyler and Jeff from Colorado were smooth operators and super nice. And the top dogs were just UNfreakingBELIEVABLE. DD should change their slogan from "put some D's on it" to "THE D'S ARE ON IT!" Newell, Smitty ,Eric and Liz crushed it!

Still working for the Parks Department completing his 25th year. About the only time I get to visit with him is the week before the tourney. City employees have Labor Day off, but the Tuesday after we meet Ron at 7:30 am at hole one and discuss what we need to do and get busy working. He always seems happy to see me and likes to hear what's new. Willis told me he's still a current PDGA member. Did they use to have lifetime memberships? There was a Geoff Hungerford from Colorado, he's PDGA member 688. That's a damn low #. I never got to ask him or really visit with him. Thought maybe he use to come out years ago. Anyone know?

Thanks again to everyone who attended. Still in awe that we had 106 discgolfers this year. Wow!

Anyway as usual feedback and constructive criticism is welcome and condoned.

Some of the suggestions I heard were:

Arrows on the mando trees
Double Mando on Temp hole D

Play all the shortest holes on the first 2 rounds. Then play all the longer harder holes when you only have 1 round to play.

Get the Ring of Fire and other things going sooner. I still got home about 12:30.

The ring of fire does take a long time. It is fun though.

One idea when you have that much stuff to give away might be to split the winnings between 2 players (or one if only one makes it).

Smitty, with the short holes on day 1 suggestion, it can create more of a bottleneck, because you have to wait for the group in front to hole out and then tee off. Prime example was on hole 1 where the next tee is inside the circle, same with a lot of the asphalt boxes. Again if the tourney were to fill, it could be potentially longer rounds, but I'll put some thought into it.

I've thought about teeing off Saturday at 8am instead of 9am. Don't know if that would be better or worse for out-of-towners.

We could realistically get the awards and everything else going sooner, but a lot of people want to go each lunch after the round. Maybe we could do a BBQ so people don't have to leave to eat.

Mike, it's crazy that we have so many people donate merchandise that it takes so long to give it all away. We can put some thought into it. I've seen longest putts for prizes on holes.
