Norton news
I was out on the course Monday night playing when my wife rolls up in the van. I hate getting interupted so I try to "forget" the cell phone as much as possible. My wife tells me one of my friends (who happens to be a school board member) called and wants me to go to the Chamber banquet with him. She hands me the phone to give him a call and takes off.
I knew about the chamber dinner! Ron Prince from K-State was going to be the speaker. I was not planning to go because it was $25.00 a pop! So I call him and he tells me that I can go for free! Let's just say I said my goodbyes to Chad and high tailed it on out of there! I hate leaving in the middle of a round, but it was Ron Prince (not many chances to hear someone like him speak) and it was a school board member asking me to go, his treat! Chad says "you gotta do what you gotta do", but was not very happy. We will have more rounds!
Well, if this guy is half as good a coach as he is a speaker, K-State fans have a great year in store for them, and more! I was impressed with the man. One of the Norton kids is on the squad and should see some playing time this year. Terry Petrie is his name. He is a running back. Watch for him.

Tonight I saw a crowd of kids buzzing around tee five, as we started hole #4. "What's up" I asked Chad? "Dunno" he said. Then we saw some girl running up the hill. She waited for the train to slow down a bit and then jumped on, riding it for about 100 feet! All the kids cheered her on.
We just kept playing.
Later the teacher in me took over. I had to call the kids parents and let them know what had happened. I feel sad and afraid that some younger kid is going to try it and get killed, or she will try it again and not be so lucky.

Before the round today I actually walked the first 7 holes for alt. pins!
1. Short in between the "V" in the big tree at the bottom of the hill
2. Right, in between the pavillions, below 3's tee.
3. Long, way down by the stop sign, even with 4's tee.
4. Longer and to the left, by the road.
5. To the right of the softball field, long.
6. 30 feet right, on the dyke.
7. 15 feet longer on the dyke.
Smitty gave me most of these ideas and they are good, so why not use them. If anyone has input on these, better be quick about it, cuase they are goin in the ground soon. Probly in a couple months to a year!
