Our "Iron Man Course"!

Well, there were some tough holes, and some not so tough holes.

JimBob, Master Dyck and I played "Iron Man" today, and it was a lot of fun.

I will let the others tell you about the holes if they want. James aced hole 1, which is a putt, really. Rodney aced hole 18 which was about 120 feet long. I paid Rodney five bucks for his ace, but James would not take my money. We told him an ace is an ace, but "no" was the answer.

Rodney birdied 2-3, 4-5 (we all did), and 6-7 (I 3'd and it was a shorty!). That was a good streak of 2's! Way to go Dyck!

Tee 8 to hole 9 was my downfall! I tried to sneek a roller down the softball fence, but went into the softball field! Circle six on a hole that should have been a tough three or easy four!

I will tell you that tee 17 to hole 18 was very fun! I think it was about a 900' hole with lots of OB and trees. Also, 14-15 was long and the city piles snow in between 15 and 17 fairways, which came into play, but not much.

JimBob had some great tosses, in fact, after nine holes, we were tied. That's when Master Dyck hit his three birdies in a row!

This was a good idea and a great way to experience new shots on our course that I would never have even thought of!

Thanks Schoen-hopper and crew for the idea! I am sure the idea has been around awhile, but we had never done it that way. We have made up lot's of tees and played backwards. This will be a nice addition to the course.

After all, if you had 2 aces the first round ever, it cannot be that tough. Your course makes to many turns to be that tough.

Hole 3 to 4 had to be pretty cool.
Hole 4 to 5 is cool, if you go down the pipe.
7 to 8 was pretty cool.

We have our share of easy holes, but plastic man is un-called for.

I kinda like tin man, but not for a course name. We will think about it and come up with something...

Sounds like you had some fun. I bet there are a lot of courses that would offer a unique golfing experience playing this way.

I once read a John Houck article that was introducing the concept of what par 4 disc golf is and how it is in many ways superior to par 3 golf. The example he used was throwing on a normal hole only to find the basket missing as well as the next tee. If you made it into a good landing area, you were more set up for the next shot (to the next basket).

He wrote many more articles on the same subject that are pretty right on. Its always fun to hear what that guy is coming up with.

You come play it and see what you think. We might call it "David and Goliath" cause there are some really short holes and some really long ones!

I knew that when I read it the first time, then when I read it the second time I thought it was "new". I am glad I did not get all defensive.

I had fun playing it yesterday. So much more of a challenge than the regular course! I really like the Challenger too! Putts are starting to fall (in the basket!).

What do you do about some of the holes that you can skip the "real" fairway?

Hole 4 tee to 5 basket?
You should have to throw out by 4's hoop, then over to 5.

5 tee to 6 basket?
6 tee to 7 basket?

Both of these holes are like 120 feet long.

5-6 is similar to regular 5 or 6. Buzzz shot with the dyke there in case you over throw, which could happen. 4-5 has some trees in the way and is a tricky shot, but I have birdied it both times I played it. Making one of the trees in 4's fairway a mando would make it play like a easy four, fairly easy three, if you make the tunnel. 6-7 is kinda cool cause you can't see the basket, but very easy.

We could change things up a bit as we go. 1-2 is a joke. It is just a putt and I made it yesterday. That "hole" is gone now. I won't play it again. Hole 1 might now be 18-2, which we don't play in the normal scheme of things.
