You really want to boost attendance (at least by 1)? Move the Frontier to Wichita, have it on a Wednesday night after the freakin zoo is closed, and charge $1.00 (with an optional $50 ace fund, of course). I know, I know shut up you jackstock! Hey whatever dude, find your own planet!
No....where've you been?

I have read how all of you have commented on the layout at Frontier. Some of you want a temp course, others want the original, and still yet, others want a mixture. I am not yet a member of the KDGA or the PDGA but I do try to promote the sport by telling all of the people I know about it. I even TRIED to put on a tourney in the Spring with a little help from 2 people on here telling me how to go about some of the things. My student organization has 30+ people and a lot of them love the game and want to use the tournament angle as a fund-raiser/ sport promotion. We will do this, in time.

The course layout is stellar compared to some others I have seen or heard about. If the Open is 2 rounds, why don't you play original front and alternate back end the first round and for the second round, go to alternate for front and original for the back end. No one really needs a home course advantage if you play as well as I know some of you do. I have only been involved in the sport about a year and a half and can not yet get below a 70 at Frontier. I still may give the tourney a shot this year, we'll see.

Overstable,

How ambitious is your group? If anyone in your organization wants to help in our campaign for the tournament, we could use the help. We could give your organization a sponsorship for donation of labor. I can't help raise money for your organization per se, but do you still need older computers and other materials? We might be able to work something out if you're interested. Plus, you might get some hands-on experience preparing for and running a tournament. Mace does a fantastic job and would make it worth your time. Just some food for thought, let me know.

Str8,

I think I might be able to get a body or two, possibly more being as college will be back in session and so will our meetings. What kind of help do you need or want? How many bodies is ideal for you? Let me know what you have in mind. I could also post flyers up in the Russell area as I live in Russell and work part time in a convenience store that gets quite a bit of traffic.

As far as the computers/equipment, we will be doing this as an ongoing service project for as long as we have schools willing to accept the donations. We are always in need of these older computers, preferably 350mhz and up. We are not accepting any Macintosh systems at this time as we are Intel people. Equipment needs vary but would include hard drives(3 gig or larger), 56k modems, NIC cards, PC100 or faster RAM memory sticks, etc. Any donations within our simple guidelines will be appreciated.

Just let me know what you have in mind for the labor part of the campaign and I will put it in an email to the rest of my organization immediately so they will know starting our first meeting what we will be doing.

Terry(i)?,

I'll know more after Thursday. The Park's Dept is going to do a lot of work to prepare the course for the tourney, which I originally thought we would need to do. I'll let you know what I find out.

I know Mace wants to have several people to help him with registration and tallying scores. I suppose this would all depend on whether or not anyone in your org wants to compete or not. We could also use some spotters on a couple of the blind shot holes. Plus having people set up sponsors tee signs, banners, water coolers, moving pins, barricading entrances, Park closed for tourney signs, ect. Would you be interested in that?

Str8, we have our first meeting of the semester on Wednesday, August 31st. I will let then know that you could use our help. I don't think any of our people will be competing in the Open so that shouldn't pose any problems. I believe I can get at least one or two people, other than myself to help. This would give us a little knowledge on how the tournament set up runs. Check in here tomorrow night and I will let you know how many people will be willing to help and with what.

Sweet,

The parks dept. will mow next week Wed. Sept 7, and last I heard, Ron will begin chalking baskets and OB after they mow each fairway. On Thursday, Sept 8, at 8 am they have asked for volunteers to help finish what's left. If I have fulfilled all my other obligations (T-shirts, booklets, ect.) I will be there in person, if not, I have only one other person who will be there. So depending on you and your fellow students class schedules, maybe you could help then. If not, we would like to have individuals to help with registration and tallying scorecards. We also would like to have spotters on certain holes. Anyway, I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks for your help. It will be worth your time. I'll need to know some info about your org., so I can get it into the booklet, I'll also need a photo.

Thanks,

Str8
