Norton Saturday, August 6th

Post by _dm4 »

Norton is on Saturday this year.

$30.00 Open/Masters
$25.00 Adv./Am Masters
$20.00 Novice
$15.00 H.S./Women/Junior

As you may know, we have a lake five miles West of Norton. You may want to camp there Friday night. Then you are right there for the tourney on Sat. I thought about making this a PDGA D-tier, but it isn’t going to happen. Here are some things that might bring you out;

Innova donated about $250.00 worth of prizes including 50 stickers, 50 minis, 3 t-shirts, 3 Champion Orcs, and a Silver Mini Discatcher Basket (actually we paid $47.00 for the basket which is less than half price. The basket retails for $95.00)!

The Norton Disc Golf Club is donating a Ching Mini Basket!

The Innova donated items will go for CTP's. The two mini baskets will be given away at the end of the tourney. That's right, no raffle, but you will get a chance to use your skills! We will either see who can throw in the furthest mini shot, or whoever is closest on hole 3 (separate from the round).

There will be special trophies given for first place in all divisions. You have to have three for a division for payout, but I will give out all the trophies!

Right now I have at least $150.00 to add to the pro purse (that is $150.00 for Open and Masters Divisions total).

There are some QuadShocks to give away and some coins (3 collector quarters and a Silver Eagle Dollar).

Lightning is sending some discs, which will be given away to some people who might want to try them (hopefully someone will!).

MaceMan has agreed to do your prizes, so you can pick what you would like. To me that is the best way to go. Thanks Brandon!

Oh, and we get to play the ENTIRE course again this year, although some of the fair rides may still be up, but that will just be more fun for all of us!

None of this extra stuff will come out of your entry fee, not even the trophies. I will let you know as we get more prizes/cash. I put an ad in the paper today, so who knows. Let me know if you want dubs on Friday night. We can sure do that if you like (Random draw for 5 bucks a team?). Hope to see all of you in Norton on Sat. August 6th.

Don,

I want to play, but I might have to drive to Oklahoma to pick up my daughter on the 6th. If I work out another date to pick her up, I will be there. I might even bring her if there might be someone who can watch her when I'm playing. I promised her we'd go camping this summer, let's hope it's not too hot. How's the water level there?

Brett,

My wife is not going to play, so your daughter can for sure hang out with her and my kids. The water level is down, but I am sure the camping is still good. Fishing is always good! Hope you can make it!

Don,

I'll do my best to negotiate with the Ex., you put on a classy tourney and it has a lot to do with the way you carry yourself in the disc golf community. This could be the 2nd tourney I play this year. Wish it could be my 15th, but a lot of my future income was spent on something far more important.

Thanks for the generous offer!

Here is a picture of some of the 1st place trophies. The disc in the back is an oversized wooden replica (I am sure you have all seen them). This goes to 1st place in the Open Division! All the trophies will say Norton '05, and the wooden disc will have a larger bar in the middle with all the info on it.

Paul, I am not sure, actually I got it off Ebay!

The metal came in for the trophies this afternoon and I had time to get them put on (great to be a teacher :) ). Here is a photo of a few and the disc...

And here is a picture of the "Mini Discatcher"!

Just having too much fun on my summer vacation! I might take a picture of hole #1 so you can see it with all the fair stuff that's going on this week. Kind of cool!

Here is hole one in Norton today! This will probably be cleared out by tourney time, but if not the tent (under and on) is o.b.! :D

If you have never played in Norton, the basket sits beyond the tent and just to the left of the large Oak tree. I would say it is over 400, but can't remember. Bueler? Bueler?

I never was any good at ball golf! My grandad used to take me every summer. It was fun to play with him because we would not keep score. Also we had a sweet par three course in my neighborhood in Aurora. If all golf courses were like that, I would still be playing. You never needed your woods! Did you ever talk to John R.?

Wich I could be there. The PD campgrounds will be safe this year! Are the indians still on the island, or did the move them?

I hope the fair equipment is still there, that would make that hole even more kick butt!

I have not heard any more about the Indians. I think they settled back into their resting place. I am sure the tent will be gone which will leave a nice landing zone, but the roller coaster and Ferris wheel might still be up. Too bad if you catch the sign! It's the rectangular shaped object in the picture.
