The plan is now to utilize our existing Mach-IV baskets and put them in Lemon Park for the ice bowl. We're going to try to set sleeves in the ground so it's easy to do every year.

Instead of building the course around avoiding the pedestrian path, we're going to try to get clearance to shut down the park for the day entirely and have our way with it.

We Prattans invite all KDGA member input in the layout, especially if you played the previous Lemon Park Pratt Ice Bowls.

We need to be working on this now in order to hold one badarse bowl.

If you've never seen Lemon Park, I'll just say that it has huge potential.

What is the scoop?

Are you in at Lemon Park?

I also heard a rumor of a 2nd perm. course at 6th Street? Any truth?

I'll get the map updated & re-post a new version as soon as possible.

We're working with the City and a couple of businesses to match funds from the club. We have a "safe & sound" layout for that park that Patrick, Ed, Cort & I have been working on.

We're not sure of timeframe, but we're looking to order baskets very soon.

The plan goes something like this:

* Buy 8 Mach-V's and get them set in position @ 6th Street.

* Buy anchors & sleeves for the other 10 and get them sunk in the ground.

* Hold a special 2-day event (fall 2006?) ... where we borrow the existing Mach-V's from May Dennis to use temporarily in the sleeves @ Sixth Street. (2 days, 2 courses, 4 rounds of eighteen) Maybe B-Tier.

Concrete Tees would be another year down the line at Sixth Street.

And the part you fans of the Lemon Park Ice Bowl will like:

Sixth Street park borders Lemon Park (250-ft walk). This year, if we can get the 8 in the ground @ 6th St., we're gonna use the original 11-hole layout in Lemon, and segway into 6th St., doing a loop of 7 holes. That means 18 for this year's icebowl. It all hinges on executing quickly here very soon, though.

Right now there is no plan to put Mach-V's on the back 9 @ May Dennis, because it's so secluded and kids tear things up back there. We've had them "uproot" 2 so far that were back there. (Whereas Sixth Street is basically exposed to passing traffic, walkers, etc.).

I talked with the Parks Director, and the City of Pratt seems to be willing to accomodate, as long as we have a nice safe layout for 6th street/Lemon Park ice bowl.

They just purchased 3 more Mach Vs, and we'll be buying the remaining 5 Mach Vs. That gives us 18 at May Dennis.

yes: May Dennis will have all 18 Mach V's before the May 2007 KDGA SuperTour!

Oh yeah.

Please, let's keep our relationship smooth with the city officials from here forward. I spent a good 40 minutes on the phone with them, hearing things like "after the way the others have talked to us, we weren't going to budget a penny..." There's no need for picketing or name calling. That's not productive.

We will not be looking to change the layout at May Dennis permanently. That is their design, and they want to keep it.

We have Sixth Street as our canvas...

They agreed to general idea of putting permanent anchors in lemon and 6th street, and allowing us to move the 18 Mach V's for the Ice Bowl and other special events, and with the general idea of buy 18 more Mach Vs over the next 2 years.

But... utility underground locating must be done as they have water and electrical in both parks. I'll post more as we do more.
