Taking up space......
I tied cunningham there with 10 down for 2 rounds..It playes pretty tough, especially if its windy
You start out in open first 5 holes, then go in woods 3 holes, next 3 back in open, then the next 5 are all short technical holes back in woods..Then finish off with the 2 hardest holes on course.. 17 200ft down tunnel, 90 degree dog leg out into opening another 150 to 200ft. 18 400 plus hyzer down O.B. street on right, plenty of obstacles on left. basket under trees on left ... Pretty sweet course.. Not one of best in Kansas though

Evreybody dies but not everybody lives...
They changed 17 so you don't have a dog leg, just the last part, the tunnel. I hope they change it back!Ring wrote:I tied cunningham there with 10 down for 2 rounds..It playes pretty tough, especially if its windy![]()

And this year, that hole was 16. 18 was a small hole through those pine trees up near the practice basket. It was a very fun addition to the course!
My take on the course is that it is a death trap! Tees are way to close to the baskets. With that in mind, I have played a ton of rounds there and think it is a pretty good course. I have told them the changes that I would make.
1) Is a cool hole
2) Is a cool hole, it would be better if the basket was on the side of that hill.
3) Needs to be 100 feet longer, and maybe move the tee to the left of where it is.
4) Bucket could be moved back and to the right.
5) Is a pretty cool hole, I like the dog leg. It makes it a true golf hole. I think it would be better to make a trail through the trees, and make it a tunnel shot. I have looked at it, and it would take very little work
6) Good hole, could be better if you played to 7's basket. Or if they would move the tee closer to the tracks and do a little clearing.
7) GAY!!! Needs to be deleted.
8) OK hole, I aced it at the Pratt tourney a few years ago. It could be made into a tighter Anhyzer, that would rock. Or move the basket farther out of the gap.
9) Pretty good hole. It is long. The only way to get to the bucket is a roller and the trees early trees make it a tough shot.
10) Not a good hole. I don't know how to fix it.
11) Kick butt hole. Most technical hole on the course.
12) Not a good hole. The tee needs to be moved back, or they need to play to the 7's basket. Also moving the basket farther right would help the hole.
13) You use to have to throw a skip hyzer, but after a few branches were moved, it turned into a nice straight shot. I would rather play to 14 basket, that would be sweet.
14) EZ skip shot. If the pin was moved off of the trail and into the woods to the east, it would be a better hole.
15) Dump hyzer for any right handed player. I have seen my wife throw a spike hyzer to the bucket. Not a good hole, and I don't know how to fix it. It is a cool looking hole, with the tree in the middle of the fairway.
16) Same hole as 7, and that isn't a good thing. It would be kick butt, to clean out the trees and move this puppy farther back. It could easily be twice as long as it is now.
17) Is a cool hole. You can throw up the gut, and hope to get a 4. You can throw a UD over the top, if you have that in the bag, that will usually get you a 3, if you clear the trees. You can throw a sky roller, that may end up out of bounds. Tough hole, and the cooliest hole on the course (IMO)
18) Pretty cool hole. It is long and narrow. It could be made longer and make the hole better and more lefty friendly. The trees usually are not a big problem if you get into them. I think moving it closer to the middle would bring the road into play.
There is some good ground that isn't used out there. It would mean reworking the course, but it could and would make it better in the long run.
Lemon Park where the Ice Bowl is hosted is kick butt!!

Ok, I guess someone need to defend Pratt.
We have replaced 10 of the tire baskets with new baskets. Those would be holes 1-10. All of these first 10 baskets have been moved to different locations, yet are still close to the original pins. Some play harder, some easier.
A few of the suggetions that Smitty made are now a reality. Hole 2 is on the hill nearer the road. Hole 4 has been moved farther back and to the right. Hole 6 is closer to the tracks. Hole 7 is a little longer and behind a tree.
Hole 17 and 18 are still the same as they used to be. We only changed it up for the tournament last year because 17's tee is pretty much in 15's fairway and can cause some congestion during a tournament. I do like the hole 18 we had for the tournament.
Pratt is planning to do an ice bowl this year, I think in Feb. I also believe we are planning to have it at Lemon Park.

I would love to see a permanent course at Lemon. I was out there this summer and I bet we could make a course that would not interfere with all the walking paths. That park is always busy with walkers and runners.
I have heard talk about a second course in Pratt. Someone mentioned to me the other day about putting in a course at a lake near Pratt. I don't know whether this is true or just rumor.
