Clinic at Idlewild, 9/20/08
We are scheduled to put on a clinic for Oaklawn's fall festival this Saturday. I'll have to call and find out what time. This was part of the agreement for getting free use of their facility for our Ice Bowl tournament.
I'm not certain we have any particular ideas for the clinic. I don't even know who can make it, but I know I'll try my best to be there. One thing that would be helpful is some baskets. I'll bring the club discs for selling and some of my own for borrowing. We'll need at least 2 portable baskets if anyone can help with this.

The time of the Oaklawn's fall festival is 11am-6pm tomorrow. The time of our clinic was going to be whenever anyone with baskets could do it. I didn't get any firm commitments though.
I got Scott's Mach Lite. I don't want to do a clinic by myself, but I don't want to lose this place for our Ice Bowl and a possible location for a future course.
I guess I'll try to make it out there about 1:00pm tomorrow. Anyone who wants to bring a basket should call me first thing at 612-7896 if 1:00pm isn't good.

IF ANYBODY IN THE ACDGC DOESNT HAVE ANYTHING GOING ON TOMORROW, THEY SHOULD TRY TO MAKE IT OUT TO OAKLAWN AND GIVE MIKE A HAND. BASKETS WOULD BE GREAT BUT JUST TO HAVE SOME HEADS SHOW UP AND REPRESENT THE CLUB AND DISC GOLF IN GENERAL WOULD BE AWESOME. MIKE DOES SO MUCH FOR THE CLUB, IF HE WASN'T AROUND THINGS WOULD FALL APART FAST. SOME PEOPLE GIVE HIM A HARD TIME HERE AND THERE, AND MAYBE MISTAKE HIS KINDNESS FOR WEAKNESS, BUT MIKE JUST HAS A LOT OF HEART FOR THE GAME AND FOR TRYING TO GET THIS CITY'S SCENE TO THE LEVEL IT SHOULD BE AT. IF A HANDFULL OF US WERENT GOING TO MCPHERSON, WE WOULD BE THERE WITH MIKE. HOPE SOME OF YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT...DON'T WORRY PEOPLE, IT'S JUST A DISC GOLF CLINIC, NOT A LEAGUE WORK DAY. COME OUT AND HAVE SOME FUN! MIKE, YOU RULE!!! P.S. IF lizard IS THE ONLY ONE TO SHOW, MIKE MAY SNAP AND GO AWOL.

We were out at Oaklawn from about 12-4pm today. Jack lent me his pop-up tent, table, chairs, and a couple baskets. Lizard & Plamen helped me show people how to play.
There were a ton of people at the festival, so it was hard to find a place open enough to set up. We ended up getting a spot behind a fence and a church group that wasn't the most visible, but right next to some games for kids. So we did get a few kids to try it out. We stuck to mostly putting and short approach shots. We had one short 7 year old that couldn't putt one in from 8 feet, but could chuck a putter well over 100' every time with accuracy! One kid had played before at Jones Park. We gave out a few of my discs.
All in all a good experience. I don't know how much I taught about disc golf. The best thing I can say is that nobody got hit with a disc!
