20 percenters
20 percenters
Well, first let me start by saying I love to disc golf. I am confused though. I have been playing since August of this past year and I have come to the realization that 80% of the discers out there are in it for...we'll say friendship and herbal companionship (that's fine by me). There are 20% that are in it for the sport of it all. I am a 20 percenter. I am in the Air Force and wouldn't have a choice anyways. I play quite a bit these days, but mostly alone. When discers find out I'm not into herbs, they tend to avoid me like the plague. I've played with both the 20 and 80 percenters and have enjoyed all of their company. I don't care what you are into as long as you are into Disc golf. If you need a break when we're playing, that's fine with me. I'm not out there to rat on anyone nor am I out there to judge you. I like the interaction and friendship. Please don't judge me for choosing to be a 20%. Thank you for your time.

You are not alone out there. I have gave up the 80% and joined the 20% group not to long ago as everybody should know by now. There have been a few people that have told me Good Job and I appreciate them encouraging me to stay sober. My wife and I have been getting along much better after the past few weeks of Sobriety. There have been people that can really notice a difference in my composure/attitude on the course. Hopefully sobering up will allow me to gain much more experience on the course and off.

Ranmatt,
I hear what you say and it could be that you have been in the Disc Golf world for such a long time that you have earned the trust of the 80%'s. I just don't feel as accepted as you. I was dating a young lady who had quit the 80% group and at the frizz when we walked around, she was getting unsupportive comments about going straight.
JTK,
I'm glad to hear that your sobriety is going well and you are seeing some true differences in your life. I wish there were more successful stories like yours out there that could help those who would like to go sober as well. If there is ever anything I could do for you, just ask.
