Doubles League

Saying it is unfair is not fair.
Most leagues run random doubles. You might get 2 novices against 2 1000 rated players and its tough, get better, thanks for the lesson.
Pro-am. Would you like to be moved up to play pro because we have less pros than ams? Then you would be garaunteed to have 2 ams paired up, only there would be no stroke compensation. I do try to do pro-am when we have the correct numbers, but I do not believe in forcing players to play pro.
The way we do it, the am-am teams get 6 strokes against the pro-pro teams. The pros are the ones who feel this is unfair. The last few leagues, it has been am-am teams that have taken first place. Me and Jack shot -7 last night and had to settle for $4 each.
With the format we've been using, I notice that am-am, pro-pro, and pro-am all cash about equally frequently. I am trying to make it as fair as possible.
If we want to make it "more fair" it is actually going to be less fair to somebody else. I could use round scores to figure player rating and then seed the highest with the lowest every week. How well would that go over? Not well. The best players of the game shouldn't be punished for working on their game to get to that level.
Cali is the wildcard. Most people like getting it because it is rare you get to play with a mulligan on every hole. I wouldn't say it is only good for pros. Plamen shot about 17 strokes below his average the last time he had it.
It's about the fun. Think single entry for double pay. Lizard, I gave you the option of taking full cali or the typical 3 strokes. I did this just to be nice because I had mis-stated your handicap. The 3 strokes probably would have been the better choice for you, and I realize now that you didn't understand the choice you were making. How much does it really matter?

Ok I realize no matter what I say I cant argue my point with you because you as a Pro player don't see it as I do . You say it so easy " get better" like I havent tried . I have been playing this game probably as long or longer than you. But there is nothing i have done that has improved my distance . there is nothing I can do to improve my distance that is where i lack the most on the course. My shoulder is torn up and nothing i do will help me throw far enough to match the distance that even most AMs throw. If it was't for the fact that I really put alot of my practice into my second shot and have clearly improved my 75-150 foot up shot game . i wouldn't even have the hadicap i do now. It just really frustrating to be a donar just about every time we play that is any thing other than short tees. When i do win (on the short tees ) I also once again screw up my handicap for the next four or five times we play.LMAO . So yea I am going to argu my point for all of us Ams and Novices.

Our league better represents amateurs than just about any you will find.
This is because I am using a system that "more" favors the amateur player than do other systems. I've also change our handicap formula to better represent the higher handicap players.
So it's not fair to say that I only see things from a pro perspective.
I have a recurring injury that has bothered me every time I have played for the last 4 years. The last 8 rounds I have missed 8 putts or so from 15' on in. Yet I'm not asking for anything. Think about other players who "donate" in the pro division.
The way I'm seeing it is that the more you try to make things fair for everyone and be up front about it with offering multiple explanations (its in writing on the forum and on the bulletin)............................... the more people complain. If you ran league as many times as I have, you would probably arrive at the same conclusion.
A better direction to take here is "what can we do to help the club?" I'll soon be posting some items that we need help with.

With the exception of Paulson, you have named three of the last four active players from 10 or more years ago.Because of the increasing length of holes, injury is taking players away from the game every year.Buddy and I play with injuries do to this stupid length concept.
When you have to choose between your woman and discgolf, don`t be stupid-choose the discgolf.
