On a course that is already basically wide open and sorely lacking in obstacles, I can't understand any change that would bring trees less into play, reduce flight paths, or bring more interference and safety issues with other holes.

Because the wind always blows from the north in Kansas!
I should have said when it isn't out of the South. I've aced this hole twice, both throwing the RHBH hyzer route. It isn't that tough.

Are you saying this course is easy? How far over par was your first round?

I do kinda have to agree with lug. The course is pretty much open. You have hole 2, 5, 8, 13 and 18 that have tree cover from the tee shot and the rest if you throw well and get a good lie you can pretty much stay completely away from trees. leave the pad where it is. Widen it on both sides on the release end making the pad a cone shape but leave it where it is.

I usually shoot pretty close to par whether I'm playing shorts or longs. It's tougher when the pins are all long though.

It's mostly due to extra putting strokes though. A better question would be "how many trees do you hit in a round?". Or, "how many should you hit?"

Does a ball golfer expect to shoot par on his first time out? Most will never ever get close to par. Does that mean they make par 137 to accomodate the first timers? Would that sell more green fees? How about they keep the par and move the tees to about 10 yards off the green? Then the first timers could shoot close to par. Absurd, yeah, but you design quality courses for low handicap players. That's not saying there isn't a place for high handicap courses in disc golf. Look at Mulvane or Valley Center. There are a lot of players who can have a good time playing these courses.

Take an open field and put in 18 wide open holes, all 450 ft. or so in length. Only the truly big arms are ever going to shoot under par. But that doesn't make for good course design.

While an exaggeration, that illustrates the point. You want to take one of the few holes at the course where trees and obstacles are in the play and change it just so people have the chance to shoot one stroke more under par? The course needs to utilize all the trees it can, offer holes with various flight paths to choose from on the tee, and not bring more interference and safety issues with other holes. Intuitively, moving the teepad to make yet another wide open shot just so people have a better chance at a birdie makes no sense to me at all.

If you think that, then you probably haven't played very many courses outside of Kansas.

The courses here condition our top players to beat anybody anywhere.
You are blind if you consider Herman Hill a wide open course.

Lizard, you probably hold the course record for most trees hit in a single round at herman.
You and lung need to smoke something different before you log on here.

Forget it, disclizard. When he's run out of counterpoints to make, he just resorts to insults. How lame.
