Don't forget, we're starting at 5:35. If people want to play 16 or 18 holes instead of 22, we could push it back 10 min.

Has any one checked to see if its Mowed. hate that course when the grass is high and you have to look for your disc on every frigging hole in the middle of the fareways.

Here's some footage of the course. Click on the "view high quality" link for a better picture.

IQ, let me know when you want to come and shoot some footage of someone killing the Grove, Cherry Street or the Canyon.

Who was that chump you taped in Derby?

Just kidding, nice putt with the water in the background. You are a stud 2.

Was there a hidden message with the rainbow at the end?

Played the Mulvane & Derby course with Josh today. 8)

In a nutshell, I really liked them. Both courses played through enough trees to be very well balanced disc golf courses. Mulvane played a lot longer and tougher than I thought it would. Upon first glance, it looked like it would be a silly pitch-n-putt but the trees & water hazards present just enough challenge to keep it from being too straight forward. If the local rule is that a disc completely surrounded by water isn't OB, that's stupid - the water should absolutely be OB to give this course some teeth. I haven't played a huge number of 9-hole courses, but this is definitely one of the nicer ones I can remember. After we played the concrete tees, we played the red stones. A great portion of these alternate holes were longer, more challenging, interesting, and tested aspects of your disc golf game that the concrete tees did not. Some of them were absolute jokes though! Like 125-foot-dead-straight-drive-with-a-putter-and-feel-like-an-idiot-if you-don't-get-a-deuce holes.

We raced through Derby in order to finish just before complete darkness. The existing 11 hole course is a very good mix of woods & open with a little more elevation change. The woods are also a little bit tighter than Mulvane but the stream doesn't come into play as much. Driving into the park, I was expecting the whole course to play in the woods & field and was stunned when we got to the pond holes. I loved the fast green on the first one! The third one is an easy righty hyzer hole but I would feel bad for left-handers on this one, although a shanked shot at least has the chance to land on the rocks and not be lost. The fourth pond hole offers some room to the right of the polehole for errant shots - I turned one over a bit and ended up just to the right of the inlet at the very end of the pond. It's a shame however that the 3rd & 4th pond hole play almost exactly the same.

Loved the tunnel shot to finish! It was getting pretty dark at this point, and while I thought this was a really great hole and one of the best I've seen in Kansas, it seemed like an awkward distance. It seems like it's much harder than a pro par four, where even 1000+ rated players would struggle to score a birdie 3 more than 10% of the time. But it also seems easier than a pro par five, where you'd be unhappy with a 5 and would feel like you screwed up a shot somewhere and 5 would feel like a sheepish par. This one seems like a par 4.5 where most skilled players all take a 4 and there isn't much scoring separation.

I look forward to this one expanding to 18 holes. I'll surely be back! 8)

So none of the other planned holes 12-18 will be pro par four or pro par five holes?

I my self like the short tunles shots. I like courses that concentrate on skill over strength.

League is on for next Tuesday, 5/12, at Derby.

Could do some cali singles with open & 2/3 handicap divisions? That might be pushing it if we are playing 22 holes.
