Don't forget, this isn't meant to be an "just an alternative" to Wednesday league. I'd like it to think of it as an addition. It's going to be different. There isn't any reason why there can't be more than one league in town, especially one that directly benefits the WVDGA and it's members.

If you play a handicap league, you have to play the same course each time or set a par for each hole (par 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, and 4).
I think setting a par would not be that difficult and I believe that the half strokes would make it extremely fair although it might be somewhat confusing. I haven't played Cherry in a while and I don't think there would be any par 4's but possibly par 2.5's and 3.5's. Some of the shorter holes should be par 2's.
It is not all about shooting 18 under. 3 to 6 under should be an excellent score in my opinion.

Payout: top third

Everyone has done a great job getting together to get the pads in and I would like to say thank you and sorry I couldn't make it out to help. 8)

Where is league at next week?

Used the PDGA payout calculator to figure the payout. 40% of the field is as low as it would go.

http://www.pdga.com/documents/2008-payout-calculator

3 Players $9
4 Players $8, $4
5 Players $9, $6
6 Players $11, $7
7 Players $10, $6, $5
8 Players $11, $8, $5
9 Players $11, $7, $5, $4
10 Players $12, $8, $6, $4
11 Players $12, $8, $6, $4, $3
12 Players $13, $9, $6, $5, $3
13 Players $14, $10, $7, $5, $3
14 Players $14, $10, $7, $5, $4, $2
15 Players $15, $10, $7, $6, $4, $3

For Doubles Payout you simple double the $$ and thing of playes as places.

I would be a fan of just doing Handicap League and saving doubles for Wednesday. At least until it was cold or we are pushed for light.

In order to make it work we would need to play the same course, with the same rules every single time we play. Then we could figure out par (SSA) for the course. Then you base your Handicap off of the real par and not 54.

9 holes at Cherry from the Cement to the Red baskets doesn't have a par of 27. My best guess would be around 21 or 22. All of the holes are either a 2 or a 3. There is no way to really mess up a hole.

I vote for the following layout.

1-BS
2-RR
3-WR
4-BR
5-WR
6-BR
7-WR
8-WS
9-WR
10- (Hole 1) WR
11- (Hole 2)WR
12- (Hole 3) BR
13- (Hole 4) WR
14- (Hole 5) RR
15- (Hole 6) WS
16- (Hole 7) RR
17- (Hole 8)WR
18- Hole 9) BS (tourney rules on the Sidewalk)

Thought maybe you didn't want to throw from # 4 white, it has gotten a lot of attention (maybe cursed)

I think with these Pars it would add up to a Par 52 course. Not sure if they would play out to be accurate or not.

I don't like the Idea of a Par 2, because you have to hit and ACE for a birdie. Maybe make the "birdie or die" holes into a "half birdie" by using par 2.5.

Houck says you should get 2 putts while on the green. Seems correct if you compare that idea to ball golf.

I would like to make 2 of the holes harder maybe?
Hole 3 RS is a cool hole, it is going to give up a ton of 3's. Very few 2's and a few 4's. Maybe we should play BS on 3. A 3 would be a killer score and very doable. There will also be some 5's and bigger. Could be a good change.

How about hole 5? BS?

Another long hole that could give up a 2 with a killer upshot. Will give up some 3's, and if you 3 it you are going to be pumped.

What ever we decide. Post it and I will make some cheat sheets, so we can find our way around.

I agree about the two putts thing. But something that always comes up is how big the "green" is. Its hard to define the green as the 10M circle, because most pros will most shots from 10M and in. But a ball golfer won't make most shots on the "green."

Dal, Shan and I played 3 WS today. I liked that hole too.

11 Players paid $1 each. That makes the Ace fund $11. Next week we'll start playing for $5, if we figure out how we're setting the handicaps. :D
