Winfield KDGA Events

Post by smitty »

There is a chance that we may be swapping with Mace for the Abilene date.
We would be giving up the 20th and moving to the 13th-14th.

There are a couple of reasons for this.
1) We would like to have 2 days for our event.
----Our current Weekend is fathers day.
2) The Salina Riverfest is Maces weekend.
---That would possibly hurt his turnout.

I know that I am for it. Sounds like a win/win for both events.

**I know that Chris Tyler has a wedding that weekend, so he is out.

What I am thinking is 2 events at a low entry fee.
-1 Day at Cherry Street and the other day at SW.
- -----We would have to make sure SW is ready to go for sure.
-I think we could move the baskets around at Cherry.
-------Play each location from both the stones and the signs.
-------The Red hoops should slide into the sleeves.
-------The same thing would have to happen at SW. Play from the shorts and longs.

Could be a pretty big weekend for the WVDGA.

Will do!

I think that it may work out better for most of us. Plus we might be able to get more people to town if we have 2 events on 1 weekend at a cheap price.

So we should probably play SW on Sunday.

I am thinking low entry fees, around $20-$25. $5 Ace fund, starting on Satruday. If we don't get an Ace on Saturday roll it over to Sunday. If we do have a Saturday Ace, start a new fund on Sunday.

I don't think that we would have more then 45 people. We could always limit the field to 45 on turn people away. If we let more then 45 people in, then we have to run both courses at the same time.

Haha, I was really on the fence about going to this wedding in Manhattan. The only reason why I decided to go was because I could play Abilene the next day!

I like the two tournament idea. Since we are changing weekends....the grove would be open...Bullfrog may have more info, but I'm sure the city will be mowing for Country Roundup. We could do one round at the grove in the morning and afternoon at cherry on sat. Then do Southwestern the next day?? I like the ace fund rolling from one day to the next idea. Which tournament will be double points? Both?

Pretty good idea there Banger.

I would say we would just do the entire event at the Grove. Then do something at Cherry later in the year. I was think the other way around, but we could swing it either way.

I could see people moving in with campers and such for the country whatever it is.

What is the date.

The Country Round up will already be in the grove that weekend. They start setting the stages up the weekend before. The Cathouse stage is in the grove.

Maceman is trying get the date changed. If the course/park for his event isn't reserved. It will be a done deal.

Here are some of the jobs that we need to take care of. Let me know if you are interested in any of them.

Course set-up
-Mark the courses
-Put out rope for OB

Course rules (1 person)
-Hole by Hole rules for Cherry

Move baskets at both courses
-Move 9 baskets during lunch time
---The plan is to play both tees on both courses, then move the baskets and play from both tees.

Add cards and Figure payout

Lunch
-Cook lunch at the course
----Burgers one day and Dogs the next.
----May just do it one of the days.
----We can use my grill, but the club will need to refill my bottle or a bottle to use.

Disc sales

Newspaper-
--Pre-tourney write-up
--Post tourney write-up
---They would probably like to have pictures also

We will need to make sure to plan at least one more work nite at the college before the tourney. We want to make sure it looks and plays awesome.

Cherry will need to be set up on the tourney layout if we want to play that again.

I am thinking that the entry fees are going to be super cheap.

$20.00 for all divisions.

Open, Masters, Grandmasters, Advanced, Int, High-school,

$15.00
Jr (We could do a 9 hole kids tourney at Cherry during lunch.)
-Each kid could get a disc and there would be no additional payout.
