Southwestern
Re: Southwestern
Tbone, trees have been removed. I don't think we can remove many more until we get permission from the college.
Laying up.......That's for chickens!
Re: Southwestern
I think it is looking pretty good on the trees for now. Until we can get on top of the mowing and stay on top of the mowing, then we can start cleaning things up a little more.
Re: Southwestern
Trimmed most of the canapy off on hole 8 tee pad. Maybe some sunlight will get on the tee and dry it out. It is the only tee that is constantly slick.
If anyone is looking for something to do in their free time. There are millions of small cedars, that I think could come out. Most are between the fairways grownig in the shade of the hardwood trees.
Mostly between holes 1 and 5.

The Tee pad was noticeably more dry today.smitty wrote:Trimmed most of the canapy off on hole 8 tee pad. Maybe some sunlight will get on the tee and dry it out. It is the only tee that is constantly slick. .

Re: Southwestern
Is there still a "mowing/trimming" nite going down?

Hit up the college after work today. The gate that looks locked is only latched, you can undo it and drive in. If it is just going to be a couple of people playing I say park in the ditch it will be easier.
It was tough out there today! Someone had moved all the basket to the alt locations and the course kicked the living crap out of me! 2 Birdies is all I was able to score.
If you play out there, the ticks are out of control! I did spend more time in the Cedars then I have so far, but I probably found 10 ticks on me on the way home.
I don't know if our club is going to be able to keep up with the grass and bugs in the next few months. The grass is already getting pretty tall from the last mow job CT and Josh did.

Re: Southwestern
We should find some tick spray before the tourney.
I found some stuff called "Permethrin". I don't know how well it works, or how much we would need.
Most of the things that I have been reading say that spraying the area isn't the best bet. They have given several good ideas:
1) Wear long sleeves and pants.
2) Spray any exposed area with DEET.
3) Spray your clothes with Permethrin and let it dry.
4) Wear light colors, so it is easier to see the little dudes.
5) Tuck you shirt in and keep it tight.
6) Keep the bottom of your pants tight or tucked into your socks. I wonder if just a thin pair of wind pants with elastic on the bottom would do the trick?
7) Stay away from brush. That is going to be impossible at SW. I think the reason I had so many the last time out was because I spent most of my time bashing around in the cedars.
