Headed out to the trails today and do a little trimming.

Hole 2- Has some branches hanging down.
Hole 4- Needs a cleaner green.
Hole 8- I want to trim the straight shot a little to give people that option.
Hole 9- I don't want to do much cleaning, I just am going to push a basket out into the woods as far as I can. May knock down a few branches.
Hole 12- I need to trim up the green area a little bit.

I will be out there around 3:00

Hole 2 - Is as good as it is going to get. I could break the branch off, so I tucked it behind some other branches. It may save or help someone into the creek.

Hole 4- Is done. I think there is a good chance someone could ring this puppy up during the round.

Holes 8 and 9 - I didn't get a chance to do much work on. The next time I get to go out there, I will hammer them out.

Hole 12- Close to done. I am going to make it as tight of a hyzer as possible.

The city is also going to give us a couple of barricades. We can put one up on each street coming into the trails. That should keep cars from parking and hopefully keep people out of the trails.

I can also bring some cones that we can put up on the dike and hang some warning sings on.

We can put a little caution tape across the bridge and we shouldn't have to worry about bird watchers and walkers at all.

[quotee2f7f25="smitty"]The course is much shorter then I thought. I used the step it off and mulitply by 3 method. I also walked the best line of travel. If there was a trail, that is what I used. You might be able to take a few short cuts.

Hole 1 420
Hole 2 255
Hole 3 180
Hole 4 180
Hole 5 210
Hole 6 300
Hole 7 240
Hole 8 240
Hole 9 150
Hole 10 210
Hole 11 330
Hole 12 220
Hole 13 200
Hole 14 300
Hole 15 320
Hole 16 240
Hole 17 325
Hole 18 240

I will be shocked if someone can shot a 52 or better on the course. In fact anyone who shots below 50 I will buy them a beer.[/quotee2f7f25]

If we get a few nice days at he start of the week, I plan on doing the last little bit of trimming.

I want to take a few small trees out of hole 8, a little more cleaning on hole 9.

The only other hole that I want to clean up is #12. I want to make it a very had hyzer. Almost the mirror image of hole #5.

What is the WVDGA losing on this deal money wise?

Special Players pack costs us $5, if there are 30 people, thats $150 being given away.
Food, I guess we'll be giving away cans of manwich, and pop. Not sure how much that would be

On the other hand, the club has more money than we ever have, have no plans to spend any of that money (Except $675 on teepads at cherry)
Also, with the KDGA course improvement fund, we have plenty of money for upgrades.

The whole concept of the Food Drive events is to raise money for a local charity, with making little to no profit. We will accomplish that for sure. Was the concept to lose money? Probably not for everybody.

If we don't like how this whole deal turns out, we can change it, I see no problem spending some extra money on a good cause.

I must of missed something last night? I talked to Nancy Tredway who runs the pantry for Winfield, when I told her about this she really seemed to get excited. She informed me that the number of people using the pantry had increased 1200 from last year, and the amount of donations had not. I know a few months ago there was an article about the pantry being low. I have to be out of town this Saturday but I will be bringing my $20 to give.
Anyways thought let everyone know there is a nice article in the Courier about the Tournament this weekend if you have time check it out. It is also online for people out of town. http://www.winfieldcourier.com/
I'll also be bringing down the barricades from the city before I leave town.

I am going to Wally World to get some sloppy joe fixings and plates. I also plan on hitting Rainbow Bread and getting some buns.

Chips, cookies, soda would all be good things to bring if you want to help out with lunch.

Also, since it is going to be a little cool outside. We are going to use a picnic shelter in Island park to sign-up. Sounds like it is going to be the farthest west shelter, it is the most closed in already.

See you peeps on Saturday

I have Harvey's carrying bag for the Innova Traveller that he won. I'll keep it in my car and I can give it to Josh Luinstra or Buddy to run it down there.

I heard this Discatcher Traveller is or is going to be PDGA approved. I'm sure Harvey would love to hear that. :P

EMac had a shot at it bet ran into a little trouble on his second to last hole. Then he had no other options but to try a crazy shot on the last hole to get it. Needless to say the last shot didn't work out to well either and he missed it.

2 teams did shot 49 in doubles, so it can be done.

Probably not next year, I have some plans to add a couple more longer holes. They were all to easy this year with the exception of hole 1.

Ideas for next year.

Hole 1 Same
Hole 2 Same but trimmed
Hole 3 Same
Hole 4 Farther into the trees.
Hole 5 Will be gone and the New 5 will be hole 6.
Hole 6 Same
Hole 7 Same (First of double fairway holes)
Hole 8 Same (First Blair Witch Hole)
Hole 9 Longer and more cleared out. (Blair Withces Revenge)
Hole 10 Same
Hole 11 Same (Secon of the double fairway holes)
Hole 12 Tee will be moved back
Hole 13 Same
Hole 14 Same to 15 basket (The up and over the Dike hole may be gone.
Hole 15 Maybe gone and play from the tee we used along the creek about 550 feet dog leg right.
Hole 16 would then be an up and over shot with the river coming into play on to long of a drive.
Hole 17 Would be to the basket on 16, but from the other direction.
Hole 18 Would then be what hole 17 was this time.

*** We would then not need the little island hole or could use it and have 19 or even 20 holes.

These are more my notes for next year then anything else. I will be able to find them and remember what I was thinking after the event.

Hole 1 Will be the same. It played just like I wanted it to. I very good drive, then a clean upshot could bag you an easy 3. If you mess up either the drive or the upshot you will be happy with a 4.

Hole 2 Will be the same hole. It does need some major trimming. I would like to soften up the corner and raise the ceiling a little. The hole itself and the green were both awesome.

Hole 3 Will be the exact same hole. It is an Ace run with trouble short on both sides of the fairway.

Hole 4 Will be the same basic hole, I would just like to drive the basket as far back as possible. I want this hole to be an easy 3 or long putt at a 2 if you can get to the where the pin was this year. If I can get it close to the location of 5's pin this year I would be very happy with the hole.

Hole 5 I think this hole will be gone. I didn't like the way it played out. Liz did throw a perfect drive on it, and had a long putt at a 2.

Hole 6 Will be the exact same hole. It is the perfect tunnel shot, and I am sure it was a favorite of everyone who played it.

Hole 7(First of double fairway holes) I think this will be the same hole. It will have to be there to make the first loop. It was a very hard hole that could produce a 2 with a perfect up the pipe drive or a 5 with a bad kick.

Hole 8 (First Blair Witch Hole) This will be the same exact hole. I watched Rusco throw a mid straight at it and ended up 10 feet out. I watched people throw thumber (I moved the tee back to take that option out), EMac and I both tried huge hyzers, Josh Case went with an anhyzer flick, and there is always the trail. I will go in and clean up all the little branches and dead fall that is in the way. This hole is about 100X more open then the first time we ever played in the trails.

Hole 9 (Blair Withces Revenge) I will try to make this hole a little longer. I would also like to clear out a little more brush 3/4 of the way down the fairway. If you can make it most of the way down there, you need to at least have a shot at a putt, or maybe not.

Hole 10 I would maybe like to find a way to push the tee pad back. Behind the current tee is a slight down slope probably about 5 feet lower. That would mean that the fairway would be 10 feet above your head just a little down the fairway.

Hole 11 (Second of the double fairway holes) This hole will be much, much harder! I never thought anyone including myself would throw over the top. This hole was not nearly as hard as I wanted it to play. I will have to look, but I think we could go on the west side of the path (it was on the east this year).

Hole 12 This was a pretty cool hole that could get you into some big trouble in a hurry. I would like to clear out some of the tangled mess behind the tee and make it a little longer. Even if it is only 15 feet, if that dead tree is still blocking part of the fairway it will be much harder.

Hole 13 Same hole throwing up and on to the dike was pretty cool. You really had to be careful to not go flying over the top and into the river.

Hole 14 This may be the second of the big changes. I am think either make it longer or putting the pin where the pin for 15 was located. This would add a bomb off the tee, then a tough hyzer upshot. If you don't get "lucky" you are going to need a big putt.

Hole 15 was the up and over the dike hole. If we make 14 longer that will not be an option. I think go onto the island that 17 was on, and play the up and over hole backwards basically. It will be the same blind shot basically only going the opposite direction. Basically the pin will be where the tee was and tee will be up and over the small hill to the west.

Hole 16 This year was the basket on the side of the dike. I loved the pin location so we will still use it, just as a different hole possibly. Here is what I am thinking for 16. You will tee from the North side of the dike, close to where 15 teed from this year. It will play between the dike and the creek. It will be a bomb off the tee and a controlled upshot. If you looked to the west, you may have seen a huge dead tree laying on the ground, that is where I am thinking the pin should be.

Holes 17 and 18 I don't know really what is out there. I am sure that the first island hole will be hole 18 next year. Then we will just basically walk around the blue house and play hole 1.

Anyone who played, if you saw anything that I am missing let me know.

Just dropped the check off at the Food Pantry $905. That is kick butt that we were able to raise that much with so little effort.

Maybe I should write up a little follow-up article for the paper.
