I agree, but with all that happens at the grove, with festivals, and floods, and teenagers taking their trucks mudding on the back roads... It just gets tough. These improvements need to be done, and will be attended to over the next couple years. The WVDGA is starting with Cherry St., and going from there.disclizard wrote:Any thing to mark the course.
Winfield does need a signature 18 hole course for the area, hopefully someday the Grove will be that course.

The parks department was very receptive our ideas. Here are the things that they thought would be good changes for Cherry St.
New Baskets and sleeve installation
Concrete Teepads
Message Board that the WVDGA could use for Disc Golf News, and course maps, and league info.
Mark was even nice enough to give us a large aerial map of Cherry St. Park. I am going to draw this down to a smaller map and put tee and pin locations on it.

Here are some tips for tee pads........>Click
How big of pads do we need at cherry? If the course were longer, I would say 4'x8' but with Cherry being so short, I wonder if we could get away with 3'x6'? Smitty and I thought no wider than a sidewalk would be fine. And with the pads being level with the surrounding ground, we could do our run up in that amount of space with no big step up to the tee pad like you see at many courses.

I think we should do 4X8.
A sidewalk is pretty thin. I looked at it at Cherry today.
Who wants to make a nice info board? Keep all the receipts, and the club will pay you back.
I think we are going to just get the baskets in the ground, then do alts at a later date. I am not to sure that we will not be able to use the sleeves we have now. We just will not be able to lock the pins.
The hardest part with the tees is going to be digging them down 4 inches. Sure would be nice to have a skid or something that we could dig with.
