grove
Re: grove
I don't know what the scoop is on the signs? I am sure someone needs to get them from Harvs yard.
Josh case and I spent about 30 seconds today and found the sleeve for hole 13. We should stick a basket in that sucker also.

Re: grove
The Grove got a little better today.
We know have sleeves for 18 tee signs that should go into the ground Sunday. Most of them are the same with the following exceptions.
Hole 1 Longer and closer to the main park road
Hole 3 Longer and on the same line
Hole 5 Is now between a couple of the trees instead of to the 14th street side of them
Hole 7 Is now up on a little hump shorter and very little hyzer shot for a righty
Hole 15 Is longer and to the right of the tree we use to walk past on the way to the tee
Hole 17 Is a probably 40 feet longer on the same line
We also added 9 new sleeves.
Hole 1 Now has a short sleeve closer to 14th street
Hole 3 Now has a longer sleeve on the same line about 80 feet longer
Hole 4 Has a short sleeve that has a series risk reward shot if you go up the gut
Hole 6 Will now be an anhyzer upshot
Hole 10 Is no longer a simple spike hyzer for a righty, you will now have to throw a low controlled shot
Hole 13 Now has a shorter more protected pin
Hole 14 Has an alternate closer to the edge of the slope on a little hump
Hole 15 Will now be a disc eater, the alt. pin is about 45 feet longer
Hole 16 Has an alt pin over the ditch and around the corner
Thanks to all the people who gave up a perfect afternoon to help out.

)
This place is getting closer to the course it could be. Look for Rec (Par 3) and Pro stones to pop up soon.

Re: grove
Nice! Sounds like some fun new shots out there. Tee signs will be a huge plus for those not familiar with the layout. Sounds like 15 could be a tough pro par 4 from long to long.
Re: grove
Hole 16 has done its job the last 2 times I have played.
Yesterday on a long upshot we had a splash down. Today after the same upshot, I had a splash down.
Hole 3 is for sure at least a stroke harder. It is to easy of a three on the short. Before if you hit the protecting trees, you would be throwing a putter under the hoop, now you hit those trees you have some work to do.
Hole 6 can eat your lunch and your discs (just ask Burley)
Hole 10 is for sure harder. Before it was a pretty simple 2 or a very easy three. You hardly ever saw worse then a 3. There will be some 4's or worse now that the spike hyzer tee shot is out of play.
Hole 14 was a minor tweak, but will add some strokes. You better be on the short side of the basket for you putt.
Hole 15 is going to be tough! Before got to the gap you had a putt. Now you must hit the gap to get a putt.

Re: grove
Is the Winfield tourney on June 20th going to be at the Grove? Is Winfield doing a seperate event for Cherry St?
Re: grove
That will kind of depend what the park looks like in June. My bet would be Cherry and we had a course last year that would flat kick the crap out of you if you weren't on your A game. I have some ideas to make it even better this year.
Chances are an event will pop up on the KDGA schedule for the Grove in the early spring months. It may even be affiliated with the PDGA. I just need to clear it with some of the other Valley Boys.

Re: grove
New grove course is kick butt. I hope it's cool that you "changed the course" I really like the new pin placements, it'll be nice to have things changed up out there once in a while.
For the spinning tee signs, I think that shimming them in with a small piece of wood would work nicely. Locking them down will help a little. Some were turned around due to the wind the last few days.
I think I still have nine or so locks that are keyed the same if we want to use those, and I bet we could order nine more with the same key if we wanted too. It is much more noticeable that the tee signs are removable, and if traffic picks up out there, they might be more prone to stealing. Then, people may be more prone to stealing other things out there.

Re: grove
I am a big fan of nut and bolt. Most of the baskets already have the locking link snapped. I don't think that we should spend more on locks then what the signs are worth.
I plan on driving a shim down into the hole, then stuffing something in the gap.

Re: grove
If crap falls in the hole every time you shim the tee sign in, then it might fill the sleeve up and be hard to get baskets in the holes for the Friz.

Re: grove
I don't know all the answers. Right now, the sings are doing little to no good. If they spin and face the wrong way. The chain isn't going to fix the problem, they will still rotate side to side.
Maybe there is a coupling or reducer at the hardware store that will do the trick. Only problem with that is about half the sleeves are flush with the ground.
I will do some looking around and see what I can come up with.

Re: grove
I think maybe if a groove was cut in the top of the sleeve and a hole was drilled through the sign pole with a bolt put through the hole and welded then when the sign is put into the sleeve the bolt will line up and fit into the groove thus not letting the sign turn. Just a thought. The dirt problem could easily be solved with some electrical rubber splicing tape, this tape is rubberised and is weather resistant. Just a thought.
Never, under any circunstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxitive the same night.

Re: grove
Even if the poles were the right size for the holes, they would still spin. A bushing won't fix that problem either. Shimming will only keep them from spinning in the wind, but if someone spun them by hand, they'd still be off. I don't really know who'd go around spinning the signs though.
