Cherry Street Vandilized!

Post by smitty »

Sad day in disc golf!

Someone cut off hole 4's tee sign today.

Chris Tyler played around at 5:00 and everything was fine. Then a couple of the kids who are really taking ownership in the course played a round and called me when they got to hole 4. "Smitty someone has cut off the tee sign that we helped you move this weekend."

I went in and looked, and sure enough sawed off at ground level.

I called up the city to make sure they didn't do it. They didn't know anything about it. To make a public record of it, they reported it to the Police.

While I was out there looking at it, an officer came out and took pictures. He took my name and information, and was going to question some of the people in the neighborhood.

The police called me about an hour ago and one of the ladies who lives on the other side of the tracks was able them a description of a vehicle and the culprits.

That had to take a little time to hand saw through, and to do this in broad daylight. Hell I was across cherry street from 4:45 till 5:30, and Alex was in the park playing some holes but never went that far east. Tar and feather e'm.

I don't know that it was a had saw. They do make battery powered saws.

I just don't know why someone would show such utter disrespect to the course. I mean it has been back in the ground for 2 (?) years.

To me it almost seems like a disc golfer would have done it. Who else would drive into the park and saw off a tee sign?

Looks like there is a couple of volunteers to work this weekend. Last time someone defaced a city area they had to come work it off during the weekend!!

Nice. If they end up being caught I am sure the City will have some "useful" jobs for them to do.

I still don't see why a person would drive into the park (there were tracks straight to the sign), saw of the tee sign, leave it laying on the ground and leave?

Somebody has it out for hole #4. Vandals struck again, this time we have some nice "political" emblems etched in the tee pad. Nice.

Dang there are some worthless people that use that park. Why can't people appreciate the things people do to improve the park?
