After we get done with the forms for cement, we should find a way to use them.
At USDGC they have the bamboo hole. At Cherry Street we could add the Lattice for the tourney.
We will have 9 perfect 4 X 8 rectangles. We could stand them on end or even put them on the long side. We could do all kinds crazy things with them to make a simple hole on the course a little tougher.
To make it play tougher all the time, we need to get some more trees in the ground. When you are working with what we have, you don't have many options.
Good news, if it is easy to mow around it will probably be a go.
I like the idea, anything we could do to help with the difficulty would be a great idea. The lattice panels are not real expensive but is it worth buying 6 or 7 just to use at a couple of tournaments. If so we sure dont want to put them to close to the tee pad because they do come apart after being hit by disc a few times. I would be will to construct them so that they would last a while.
Never, under any circunstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxitive the same night.
How about instead of using the panels, we get some 1" (or bigger) PVC pipe. We can screw the pipe to the frames and leave close to a foot between each pipe. Your disc could hit it and maybe make it to the other side.
I would put two of them off the tee. Just close enough to make you worry about smashing them. I would use the rest of them as trees close to the pin.
Don't know, just trying to come up with some ideas to make the Cherry Street event or the W.V.D.G.C. (Walnut Valley Disc Golf Championships) a tourney that people are going to want to play.
I have some ideas, but doubt I will be able to pull it off myself.
Hole 1
-1 Stone to long- Add some rope OB to the left side of the fairway and use the tracks on the right .Left OB would be about were the trunks of the 2 pines are.
Hole 2
-Normal hole 2 with double mando forcing you to go straight and low.
Hole 3
-Normal hole 3 from the new tee. We would use the Sidewalk as the ob on the left. I would also like to add OB to the right. Running along even with the dead pine and telephone pole.
Hole 4
-Would be old 3 tee to the alt. Use the tracks as OB on the right and the left OB line would be the rope on for 3's fairway. To make it different I would want to add 2 huge bunkers in the landing zone that would force people to layup or throw a UD shot.
Hole 5
-Would be hole 4. Use the SW's as ob on the left and deep then add OB string to the right.
Hole 6
-Would play out to the South dugout. The basket would be on the top of the dugout and SW behind it would be OB.
Hole 7
-Would be a short island shot that you must land on the green. This would play from close the backstop back towards hole 5's (On the real courses tee).
Hole 8
-Would be long hole 4. Left SW would be OB. B-ball court would play as OB. We would/could string out the fairway from the b-ball court to the SW.
Hole 9
-Normal hole 6 to the tall basket. OB right would be SW and deep would be SW. Could also add some OB to the left if we wanted
Hole 10-
-Normal hole 7. SW right and fence would mark the OB.
-I think we could also add OB string to the left to make it harder.
Hole 11-
-Would be normal hole 8.
-This is where I would want to use the pipe and forms, in the fairway and around the basket.
Hole 12-
-9 to the long pin. Using the SW as OB on the right. Using the string from the first hole as OB on the left.
12 holes would allow us 50 players.
This would take a ton of work. Most of it could be set out the night before/day before the event.
I will be on vacation somewhere around there, I hope I am back. I think that playing hole 7 as an island would be cool. We would already have 3 sides of the island complete. What do you think?
I think no. 7 is already one of the best holes on our course. Plus there are to many things to get in the way and keep people from making it to the island.
