Wednesday Night Doubles League
Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
I can see where both of you come from. I think that there is no way that we can ever do enough to get kids out and playing. But league on a long course is not the place. If no one cares about winning money at league, why do we pay more than the ace fee. I understand that no one is going to make any real money out there, that is not what it is about. But no one wants to go donate everyweek either. I had Ian, who was 12 out at Quaker Haven. Can anyone tell me how we are suppose to compete with Stun/Tbone or 2K/Crawler. Both Tbone and Crawler beat me at least half the time. Ian has a max drive of 200 feet so his drives were not going to help any. I think we should designate coursed( Cherry, Island Park, and Baden) where kids can play and not or others. I suppose what I am saying is that it is not about winning money, it is about being competitive for me and there have been many times it hasn't. It has kept me from going out sometimes. I do not have all the answers, but I sure wish we had a handicap singles league as it would be much more fun fair and competitive.

Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
Maybe I got the wrong idea about this whole league thing. I never have heard once it being called a adult league. I thought we have encourage high school students to come play with us. But maybe I was wrong. So who is the volunteer thats going to tell the kids they can't play with us except for one week a month?Bullfrog wrote:You don't have a kid play on an adult softball team do you or any other sport that adults play? I like the idea during the tournament about having the junior divison tourney for them. Even if we were to set a certain week each month for having kids playing with us is fine with me, but since I started going to league it has always been an adult league. It is one night a week where we can go out and enjoy ourselves maybe talk a little vulger, drink and do other things we can't mention online.

We need to come up with a way to figure whats the difference between a A pool and a B pool player is. This is correct myself, Crawler and Muddy are pretty well matched up we all can beat each other on any given day, we have played each other enough to know what each of us is capable of throwing. I believe muddy did get screwed being in the A pool if myself and crawler was in the B pool. Its kind of crappy as soon as stun and I turned our score in Dave said that there was two A pool players playing together. I hope I am in the B pool for awhile longer just to tighten up my game to where I am comfortable at, I can do this by playing some one better then I am. If I end up in the A pool here pretty quick I am not going to be disappointed with who my partner is, I am going to play the best that I can and keep fighting and not give up. By doing that I am being competitive. At least muddy and Ian could have gotten some strokes knowing what they where up against and something dave should have realized.Muddy96 wrote: Can anyone tell me how we are suppose to compete with Stun/Tbone or 2K/Crawler. I would have no problem informing the kids that there are certain days or coursed that they can play. I happen to know that they for the most part would be just fine with that. Again Tbone, I understand that they had to throw someone on A group and I had no problem with it, but there was only one hole out there that my partner could reach which did not allow me to be competititve. I felt like I played pretty well and we were at 1 up. I did talk Dave into 2 strokes, however I still knew that I could not be competitive. I would like to say that I am not trying to get anyone riled up, just sharing my opinion on something that seems to be broken. I do not have all the answers as for a and b pool. I am just glad that they are doing that.

I don't have a problem with the highschool kids who come out and can be competitive. Thats fine with me but I'm not going to be a babysitter to anyone younger then that. Like I said I go out there to enjoy myself, get away from my kids a few hours a week. That is the way it has always been!!!!! Once school starts or it gets cold we shouldn't even run in to this problem.
Also with this A/B pool or even giving strokes there are some adults who may need strokes every once and a while. I have no problem with that, but once you start getting numerous players out there and doing an A/B pool and still having to give strokes is a little ridiculous.
Sounds to me like Dave has already taken care of that.tbone wrote:So who is the volunteer thats going to tell the kids they can't play with us except for one week a month?

I thought the reason we never played A/B Pool is because there weren't enough A poolers.
I don't mind playing with the kids, but also I think league is not the most appropriate surrounding for them either.

I totally agree with this, but I am not going to sit here and say they can't play with us. That's what there parents are for and we are not the babysitters. This thread is officially in the record books lolmrsenortyler wrote:
