LIGHTNING DB5 BASKET

Post by carlbren21 »

I recently won a DB5 basket at a tournament. At the same tournament they gave away a Discatcher sport basket. At first I was a little dissapointed that I didn't get the Discatcher but after further review....

- This is by far, the easiest basket to put together and take apart! No tools needed! This basket will travel with me many places!
- It has only one set of chains, but appears easy enough to add another set.
- It is cheaper than any basket in its class.
- It catches the disc as good as any basket in its class.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this basket?

How come Lightning can't make any discs as good as their basket? :P

I've really enjoyed mine. It's a great basket for what it costs.

Not only does it come apart and go together easy and in a timely manner, it is simply indestructable! When I made the decision, I took one look at my friends discatcher; it was a no brainer. :D

I'm installing a course on the campus where I work and using the DB-5. I have seven of them so far. I have had our maintenance department weld them together and then I'm using a sleeve planted in the ground to place them permanently. It's no Mach III but it was a lot easier to talk them into buying baskets at this price and once they are planted in the ground they make great targets. I haven't given much thought to adding inner chains yet but probably will eventually. For now the eighteen chain configuration catches just fine.

I think the DB-5 is a fine choice for an inexpensive basket. And they each come with three discs you can give away to get folks interested in playing.

Ok, so call me cheap, but since I can't afford a Titan 24 Pro, I am planning on buying a DB5 myself. I was impressed with them once I actually got to see/touch/feel one. They grab a disc pretty well too, well that is unless you throw it like a weenie who doesn't want to win one :? :? :? :?
Throw some D's on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are the baskets in the ground yet? If they are, can you give me directions to the course.

Four planted, five not planted but playable. Two of the baskets have been pulled to be welded right at the moment. They should be back out later in the week. The eighteen tee boxes are still just marked with surveyor flags. My plan is to get the baskets planted and tee boxes marked better by the end of October. Here's a link to a course map and another link with directions to the campus. Please keep in mind that this is a private university. Parking can be tough during the school day.

Look for Driving Directions to Main Campus lower on this page:

This campus is absolutely perfect for an amazing disc golf course. Right now it is set up as a fun yet challenging short course in order to appeal to students new to the game.

I drove right by the campus on Saturday, going to my nephew's football game. It does look like you have a great piece of land for a course. I'm back in Salina now, so I'll have to check it out on my next visit. Thanks for the information.
