Starter bag and discs
I've got a buddy looking to get into discin and he wants me to give him some suggestions on what to buy starting out. He definitely wants a bag and at least 3 discs (already has a putter). I've got my own idea's and I just thought I'd ask on here to get some other opinions. Thanks
I wish I would have learned with a midrange disc! You can easily tell how to correct mistakes with a slower disc and will have more success with something that flys fairly straight.
Any understable driver will work well. Used discs are the best for beginners (that flip up or even over, if you really throw them hard). Maybe lighter weight discs would be better for someone just starting out. Doc is right, don't need anything really overstable, even for the wind!
Any putter will work. Softer plastic grabs chains better. Harder plastic is more durable.
It also depends on if this person throws backhand or sidearm. Sidearm throwers need more overstable drivers (in general).

I used a camera bag for a long time. Army surplus bags are cool and cost little. You can even get one with backpack straps. I have seen bowling bags, luggage, backpacks, etc on the course. There may be a bag that your friend has lying around so it will be free.
