Ebay
I went through a spell of buying the first run rancho rocs the white ones with the innova stamp I think I had 7 brand new ones at one time paid as much as 50.00 for a couple of them... I decided that the Buzz was a better flyer so I sold them all (sorry Kev) I made an average of 100.00 on each one so there is some speculation out there and on an open market some things are just worth getting.
When the '01 CE Roc came out, people bought them to throw, not to collect! People still throw the 2001 CE Roc. As long as they do, it will continue to go up in value. Discs that people don't throw, like the 25th ann. Aviar, won't go up that much, because there will always be a large supply of them.
That "hall of fame" disc had Climo on it. That's why it will be one of the "hottest" collectible discs ever. That and there were not very many made.
On the other hand, most disc golfers are not that into collecting, so who knows.

I'm gonna have to disagree. By the time that disc came out the CE craze was on so I would have to say people knew that disc would someday be worth a lot of jack. Otherwise they would'nt have put a limit on the amount you could buy._dm4 wrote:When the '01 CE Roc came out, people bought them to throw, not to collect!
I dunno Sandman,
Here is a quote from the PDGA boards, dated Feb. 2003-
"Just so you all know, the first CE Rocs, the 01s, were still available for purchase as late as the end of November in 2001. They almost didn't sell out! Anyone who wanted one of those could've bought one. Or more. I don't know how long the 02s lasted, or even if they are all gone. I remember this well because people started complaining about not being able to buy them when they were still available!"
That was from Rhet. I don't know if he knows what he is talking about or not, but that's kind of the way I remember it too.
As far as collectors snapping them up in 2001, well, they didn't. I know there was a limit of ten on the 2003 Rocs. 2004 Rocs sold out in 12 hours. 2005 Rocs did not go that fast, but they made tons of them.

I agree, I hate reserves. I believe that if you absolutly have to have a minimum, then start it at that price. Otherwise most products will usually sell for what they are worth. I also like auctions that start lower. I usually spend more money that way, since I find myself getting into bidding wars.
