I was thinking of starting a league if there is enough interest. Sounds like fun and no work required tracking points! It is $9.99 for up to 15 players. $19.99 for up to 100 players. They say they will give away a few free leagues to those who like them on facebook.
I'm thinking to start a 15 player league and give it the name KDGA. Make it private with a entry code I could post here. If there are enough people interested, we could do 100 players if someone wanted to split the cost with me. Post if you are interested and I'll get it started in a few days. The first event isn't until the Memorial on March 2nd.
Let's try to fill this thing up. I doubt traffic on this website will fill it to 100. Any objections to giving the invitation to those we know? We could post it on facebook pages, and perhaps the KCFDC forum.
Should we make it more interesting with a sidebet? The first tour is 5 events through the KC Wide Open. We could do a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and maybe a smaller prize for winning each individual event? Could be a $5 or $10 sidepot for those that are "in". If people wanted to donate a prize, that would be cool too.
Good idea to check the player list the day before the event, or even check the PDGA tournament thread in case someone withdraws before the tournament begins.
The first tour isn't over until the KC Wide Open. If we want to play for a side wager, we'd have to call it now. Probably too confusing to do 2nd place, 3rd place, individual events. Only way that would work is if there was donated prizes. $10 for the first tour, winner take all? I could be in for that.
I'm okay with that too, but the idea is like the race to the ace. Playing in the league is free, only the people who say "I'm in" would be in it for the side bet.
