Pdga Membership sign-up

Post by ronconversjr »

This is a heads-up that PDGA membership times have changed this year," Reminder - MEMBERSHIP EXTENSION DATE CHANGE: Anyone who joins or renews after OCTOBER 1st will be extended through the following year.
Previously, all NEW members joining after Sept 1st were extended through the following year and all those renewing late in the year were extended after November 15th. Please help us spread the word."
I know of at least one person who got talked into joining up to avoid the $10 non member fee at the Shunga....when they could have paid the fee and then taken $10 off the next years membership come Oct.1st... I guess it could happen to anyone, so pay attention...or pay for 4 months when it could be 16 months!

How about the PDGA just start honoring people's membership for one year from when they sign up? Like most of the real world subscription/membership models do?

Seems to me this whole calendar year thing doesn't exactly enamor those who pick the wrong time to join (like during the Summer, when most people are introduced into the sport) to renew when they find the ugly truth that they're paying a full year's price for a fractional year of membership. The fact that this policy isn't all that explicitly stated when people sign up makes it look that much more sinister.

The Shunga may have a special exemption so that when they get new sign ups, it will extend through the next year. I've heard of this before.
