Estes Park Colorado

Post by Muddy96 »

I am going for a week and would like to know if there are any must play courses there? If you don't know, it is about an hour north of Denver. Thanks.

Yes.

In Ft. Collins there is Eudora Park in town. Very manicured park. Not super long holes, but a very fun course. There's a stream of crystal clear water running through the course. You can play a shot over the water on one hole. Take a dip, a really nice way to cool off if there on a hot day.

Red Feather Lakes is just North of Estes Park. Unless there are some back roads through the mountains, which I doubt, you have to go all the way around back East, then North through Ft. Collins, then West. 30 miles as the crow flies, but 90 to drive. Worth the drive though. 2 amazing courses in the mountains up there.

Sundance Trail is on a ranch with horses right on the course. Hole 10 takes you up to the top of a rise (if you climb a few more feet above the basket) where you can see a panorama of mountains all around you. Lots of holes requiring a right turn, which is very hard to do in the thin, high altitude air. Bring understable discs! I'm not kidding.

Beaver Meadows is on maybe another half hour from Sundance. This course has it all. Trees insane, length, some awesome water holes (you can take a kayak out there to retrieve any lost discs), and of course, Mountains. You gotta bring your game for this one. It's KILLER! Even has a 19th hole. Only about a 120' open hole. If you ace it, the owner buys you a round on the house in the bar upstairs. Most of these places, including this one, offer lodging if you want to stay the night.

If you are going through the Denver area, a MUST HIT is Beaver Ranch. SW of town about 1/2 hour in Conifer. This is a true mountain course. The best course in CO that I know of. Absolutely beautiful. Don't let the 1/2 mile walk to the first tee keep you from playing. Play it, you will not regret it.

There is a course in Estes Park at the YMCA. Mixed reviews. I think the construction is done as they say all 18 are playable on dgcoursereview.com. You should use this website whenever you are travelling.

Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA camp (Winter Park Colorado), its a pretty tight course lots of up and down and tree's, very clean course. I got to enjoy this course for a summer just right out of high school, working at the camp.
