I remember a picture of Ron "Tanglewood" Tangeman on the front page of the salina journal putting into a basket while wearing a funny looking bucket hat. That was when i knew i had to try this game. Soon after I met Clint, Kevin, RB, Superhero, Ted Keith, Red Breeden, Mark "Noodles" Campbell, Ben Windholz, Salada and a few others. Ron was a major contributor to disc golf at lakewood. I played many rounds with Ron he was a great guy. His house was 3-4 blocks from mine and he had a huge backyard with a basket. At that time i was still a kid and wasnt old enough to drink but me and Ron would sit in his back yard putting at his old "thin man" basket while Ron got toasted. I also remember a time when a couple of us were on hole 7 south side and Ron fell right on his back while walking up the hill the basket sometimes sits on. It was like time stopped at that moment... funniest thing ever. As long as Ron was around everyone was laughing. You will be missed Tanglewood, Rest in Peace my brother.

Sad news. Unfortunately I didn't find this out till after the funeral. Talk about a go getter! One Saturday Morning I'm sound asleep at 7AM and Ron calls and says "cement trucks on the way to Lakewood North. Need you over there digging T-pads...NOW!" No one was ready for this yet with in an hour a bunch of us were frantically digging T-pads and working cement. It was awesome and the crap got done! One Octoberfriz we're all sitting around the camp fire and we're taking tequila marsh-mellow shots. Light the marsh-mellow on fire and set it on the tequila shot. You were supposed to blow the marsh-mellow out and down it all. Ron did this except he missed the blowing out the flame step. Down the hatch went the flaming marsh-mellow and tequila. Ouch! He played it off like "I meant to do that".
