Big Boy Toy Show in Wichita jan. 31st. At the Century 2 Expo Center. The Gentleman in charge has decided that Disc Golf will be one of the 19th Annual showcase attractions!

We beat out beach volleyball!
I will be giving putting lessons to the masses, we will have a general "putting contest" (free) with prizes for the playoff winners. As I get more details I'll post. Disc Golf vendor special fee of $100.( instead of $400.)
All sorts of other attractions from the KU cheerleaders to gunfight reinactors. Ms. February should be there and some WWE Wrestlers

The Disc Golf Community should step up on this one and represent to the public. Since a lot of the better businesses and prospective sponsors will be selling at this event, it would be nice to see a good impression made. Oh yeah!

it should be some serious fun....If you can't go to Lewisville ...come to Wichita!

How's this coming along?
Last I heard, Discs Unlimited was going to run a booth there and Peter Mohr was also trying to organize something.
The ACDGC wants to print up some brochures, course maps, & a regional map, what else? One of us needs to be there.
There is league planned for Colwich that day. Possibly even a work day. Could even do both days of the weekend in Colwich, but I don't want to do a bunch of driving for nothing. I need to find out how much help is needed and who can volunteer to help at the BBTS.
You guys are still looking for banners, baskets, TV/DVD equipment, what else? Who can help with this?

Talked to Peter and it sounds like he needs...
*Two baskets. Perhaps someone at the Wichita Ice Bowl could help with this?
*Volunteers. For helping with the putting contest, handing out info, talking with people.
*Banner, promotional material, givaways, ideas, etc...
Please post here or leave Ron or PeterParker a pm.
Sounds like the $100 vendor booth is still available to anyone.

I plan on being there all day. I'll be giving lessons to anyone that wants them as well as running a putting contest.(with the help of the Wichita Club!)
Please stop by and win some cool stuff. Any of the experienced golfers that wants to help introduce disc golf to new people is more than welcome. If you plan on attending as a volunteer please contact me so I can talk to the promoter.

I'm going to cancel ACDGC league for Saturday, January 31st. The Big Boy Toy Show is at Century 2 that day (10am to 5pm). This event could potentially be huge for disc golf in Wichita. 4,000 to 6,000 or more people will be seing disc golf center stage. Ron & Bob will have TV interviews. I think the same radio stations that are puting on the event are going to be at our Ice Bowl, helping to promote it.
It's not long to prepare, but we really need to try do everything we can to make this successful. If your Saturday isn't booked, come down to the event and help hand out our club info, help with the putting contest, or just help represent disc golf by talking to people, introducing them to the game. Ron ran some ideas by me and it sounds like if we got some restuarant sponsors to run a coupon promotion and/or buy the volunteers lunch, we could get their name on the scorecard for the competition (need help getting these printed as well). So if you want to help with sponsors, that would be great. Please contact Ron, Peter, Bob, or Mike. Anything else you could do, like bringing a basket (Ron needs 4 total) or a disc golf related banner would be great as well. Any giveaways or useful printed info would be helpful. If anyone has a projector screen that could play DVD's, that would be a tremendous help. Basically, if you have ideas or can volunteer, everyone could use the help. This is a big opportunity for promoting disc golf in this region.

They are making volunteer badges so people can get in free. I gave them a list of names. I know a lot of there people won't be able to come. Let me know if you want your name on the list. And holler if you want to bring a basket (or anything else). Please post if you are coming.

It sounds like Peter Mohr will have the volunteer passes. Probably will need to contact him. It'll be easier if you come early, before they start at 10am.
