For Women Only......And the men who love and support them.

Post by Cat »

Attention disc golf ladies in KS and surrounding area. Join the Women's Disc Golf Association (WDGA) today. The WDGA is geared to women in the sport but also men can join. Des Reading is a member and if I am not mistaken, so is Jay. There are other men who also have joined to support their wives. All are welcome to join.

Below is a quote from Cheryl Eldridge, founder of the WDGA. I have met this lady and spent time with her and her love and passion for the game for us ladies is genuine and sincere. Please take a minute to read what she has to say....

"Hello Disc Golfers,
I would like to tell you about the Women's Disc Golf Association.
My name is Cheryl Eldridge.
The WDGA was founded September 7th, 2005,
and is based out of Atlanta, GA.
www.womensdiscgolfassociation.com
It is an association for female disc golfers and is open to membership
throughout the world. We communicate mostly online through the
WDGA website and message board. The WDGA members, 170
of us, reside in different areas of the world, mostly in the USA.

For several years I enjoyed the beauty of the disc golf courses
by walking with my husband while he played tournaments. During
this time I noticed many other females doing the same thing. After
a few years, I decided to begin playing disc golf myself. Playing
tournaments allowed me to get a more inside view of situations.
I found many female players had the same complaint. 'Not Enough
Female Players' playing tournaments. Usually only one or two
to count for. Often not enough to form a legal division. This began
to concern me. I realized something needed to be done to bring
a form of unity to the women divisions. If all the female disc golfers
could meet at one domain to discuss disc golf, a gap would be closed.
So I formed the Women's Disc Golf Association. Established online,
most would have access to the source. Once united, the members
could plan to go to the same tournaments, hence increasing the
number of players per tournament.

My main goal -- to raise the number of female disc golf players per
division, per tournament, per state or region.

Our 2nd Annual WDGA Championships tournament is scheduled
for June 30th - July 1st, 2007 at Bud Hill disc golf course in
Memphis, Tennessee. Bud Hill is a privately owned course set on
the beautiful land of Danny and Barbara Daniels.
Thank you.
