I didn't feel like this was an issue I should help "blow up". Let's just say that I understand both sides and felt like commenting would do more harm then good.
As this has gone past score posting to include the club itself, I'll say a little. Just myself, I have served as almost every position on the board in the past year. Let me make serious note that every bit of help that the other board members and other club members made were efforts that made a tremendous difference and I nor the club would have got things done without them. With that said, I've wrote meeting minutes for the secretary, I've talked to the parks departments for planting trees, maintained courses and other parks liaison jobs, I've helped keep straight records for the league portion of the club finances, I've helped organize events for events coordinator, I've sent out member emails and spent many, many hours updating and posted club files & flyers & documents, and updated info for the forum for the communications director. And all the time, at meetings and such, I have tried to represent the players as well as to look for the good of the club.
The biggest volunteer effort I've made has been running league. We have had league 95 times this year to date! With local tournaments taking the place of some of the league dates, that is 2 times per week every single week. Only 5 of those were no shows, but I was still there. Less than 10 of these events I did not attend/ run. Think about how much gas money that is. I now live 4 miles farther away from any of the courses we play. Not much, but it adds up and time constraints will get even tougher. I spend just as much time updating files and such as running league. If I don't, things get disorganized quickly. While I really need someone to step up and run league regularly, I still have to serve updating the handicaps and relaying league money etc. for those events that I don't run myself.
Blah, blah, blah about me. But I'm not the only one who has invested a ton of time an energy towards the club. Even so, for our organization we really do need more help. Our small numbers (pretty much me, Bob, Bill, & Robin) are taking too much of the load for a club that is trying to do as much and serve as many people as we are. I can tell you that every single one of us works overtime and we have all made sacrifices that perhaps we shouldn't have in order to keep the club going.
How can people help? For one, don't expect everything to be spelled out on the forum. Come to meetings and see what it is like to work with others towards a solution. Then you understand why things can be more difficult than they at first seem. Don't know when a meeting is? That is probably because we haven't found one that works for the members yet. But all you have to do if you are interested is call somebody.
Lastly, though our club has way more critics than supporters, take a look at how well we are doing compared to most towns with courses. I agree that many are doing better and that is almost always due to more or better resources, but the vast majority of courses do not have organized leagues, good variety of discs for sale, multiple tournaments, etc. People everywhere struggle, because it does take several people committed to making it happen.
Myself, I want to continue to help grow and improve our club scene. As time goes on though, I realize there is only so much I can do. Other board members also are not going to be able to donate as much time. So the greatest need is for more help. Please come to our next meeting and get involved. I think we need new ideas and new motivation. At the same time, people wanting to help will need to be mindful/ respectful of the experience the club has on roads previously travelled and why we operate some things the way we do. It only works if we work together.

I protested the lengthening of our courses[redesigned by people that don`t play] I protested unecessary O.B.`s,[again designed by people that don`t play],I protested the need for PDGA sanctioning[because of entry fee penalties that discourage participation] Our club that stole our money for a decade and our current club that has been responsible with our money,didnt/doesn`t really care what I thought/think anyway,so I know they would have alot of nerve to knock on my door and ask for help.
That said, let`s go play some discgolf...........if theres anybody left to run it.........

When you have to choose between your woman and discgolf, don`t be stupid-choose the discgolf.
