Chronology of Kansas courses
The manhattan object campus course is still there too. Its probably super old cuz i think ultimate players back in the day designed it also. Its still used too this year when i played the manhattan tournamment i took some people over there to play after the tourney everything is still there. I dont recomend playing it unless u have a local with you......impossible to find your way around.

So, as for the Wichita courses, Central Riverside was installed in 1988 and then removed in 19__? Then, if Iqbal is correct, the poles/baskets were moved to Herman Hill in 19__? BTW, what does ACDGC stand for? Any clue when Oak Park was installed and who designed it?
Hutch folks, give me the scoop. Started with 9 holes and then addded 9 more. Designed then redesigned?
Salina, Oakdale southside, when were alt. tee boxes installed or were they part of the original installation?

FHSU campus also had an object course in the mid to late '70s. It was designed by Ron Rice, Karen Elder, Les Dreiling, Deb Ewy and one of the Glassman brothers. The security would run them off because they thought the golfers were damaging the grass. It became obsolete when the Frontier was installed.

I was golfing then you crap head! And it wasnt 92. I would say the north side went in sometime around 95 or 96....... Lakewood not oakdale although oak would be one hell of a site for a course that park is huge! Anyway im pretty sure the south side was set up with the alts. as an original design correct me if im wrong here gaye byker.... then hole one got reconfigured with a new pad and hole 8 got two extra pads when the north side went in. Somewhere along that line an extra hole went in between 5 and 6 hole 5 1/2 i guess but they made us take that out cuz the park people were a bunch tree huggers back then.

The alt pads on the south side were not original. We put those in a year or so before we put the north side in. They're so much shorter cause we paid for them our selve's.
Let's say the alt south pads went in 91 or 92. Maybe 93? The north side went in 92 or 93. Maybe 94? I'm sure it was earlier then 95, 96.
I got a call in to Ben W, (Mr. Fax are straight) to confirm all this. If anyone will remember years, dates, times, who, what, why, how, where, when, he will.
The same time we put the north side in we added the 5.5 to the south side as well as the two extra pads on hole 8. The 5.5 T-pad is still laying in the woods back there. What a waste!
Clint doesn't think Ben was there when we installed the north side. So the updated attendence record would be Clint, Kevin, MarkS, Mark?(Noodles), Red (I don't even know his real name), RonT, Ted K, and me.
On the south side hole one's long t-pad is not original. Hole 5, 8, and 9's long pin placements are no longer original.
I miss the old course!

I dont know the dates but Hutch started with 9 holes in the same area as the course is now. Very short pitch and putt.The baskets were donated by the optimist club.It was the then moved to Buffalo hill in the same park it was a very nice area complete with enough lights for great night golf.The city then decided to put a new swimming pool on buffalo hill so out of guilt they moved the nine back to the original area but with a new layout. Those nine are part of the current layout.The city then bought another 9 pins and the club more or less designed the current 18.Maybe dyck or randy m. might Know the years these events took place.The original 9 was in the ground at least as far back as 1990.probably earlier.

Okay -- let's see if I can answer a few questions.
Wish me luck.
Herman Hill: I agree with Iqbal;
to the best of my knowledge, it was never a 9 hole course. Sorry if I didn't make that clear in my first post.
Riverlawn: Iqbal, was that only two years ago.
It seems closer to three years but I'm not certain.
Tone Pole Course: I forgot about that one.
It was located in Cessna Park (Woodlawn & Mt. Vernon). I live near there and have only played it once in about 1997 or 1998. It was almost impossible to follow then. I don't believe its still there. Again, Buddy or Bill would have more info here.
ACDGC is Air Capital Disc Golf Club. As far as the ACDGC/ACDC confusion;
we started consistently using ACDGC about three years ago, before that both were used interchangeably.
Hope I covered the bases; I'm sure if I made any more errors, Iqbal will be kind enough to point them out.

SUPER Q
Emporia was moved to jones park after the campus and it was also an object course.
As far as the baskets go in lindsborg someone might ask Harv. I think I had heard they migrated to winfield for the friz two or three years ago and have not found there way home.
Is the information about Crestview correct? I had always heard that Lindsborg was the original course in Kansas.

Ransom went in the ground in the spring of 2000. Smokey Fairbanks was the driving force behind it. It started as a 9 hole course full of
FLICKSTERS, then evolved into the current 12 hole layout.
I will find out some Winfield info. Bart and Rich can tell me the history.
I do know this about Winfield. The old college course is no longer in the ground. Harvey planted the baskets for the new course about 2 years ago. The course is still changes. It will have 2 tees and 2 baskets/hole in the near future.

Thanks for all the input. Again, records for most courses are obsolete, so it is difficult to determine which was actually first. That's why I figured if we all pooled our resources we would be able to come to some conclusions. The PDGA directory has Crestview listed as 1979 and Lindsborg as 1980. I spoke with Bruce Hudson probably three years ago, and he confirmed that Crestview was the first. However, it is my understanding that it is no longer in the original layout. Now, one individual's memory is not always correct. It could be that Lindsborg was the first, it merely wasn't reported to the PDGA until 1980. I somehow doubt that if Headrick was involved.
Now some other questions that need to be addressed concern the evolution of the game. Obviously, the game started with object courses, then to pole courses and eventually into baskets. So, when the PDGA directory says established in... what exactly does that mean? Does it mean this is when the course was installed or the year it was reported to the State Cooridinator? Also, who were the state cooridinator's before Terri Clark?
As for the Frontier Park, the first tournament was in 1984. It did not receive the upgrade to baskets until 1992. So the early days of tournaments must have accepted poles as standard operating procedure. Does anyone rember playing a pole course in a tournament? How did it work? When you were putting did you just have to hit the pole or a painted area of the pole?
As always, just some food for thought. Keep it coming.
