Durty,
While we're on the topic of tournaments, I listed the local experts/businesses below. Dynamic Discs is "involved" in putting on the Little Apple Open each year (I'll let mrsenortyler or smitty elaborate if needed). Anyway, based on conversations with them, I have no doubt there will be more tourneys in the Manhattan area in the future. But for now, my focus must remain on getting Warner's course built.

http://www.dynamicdiscs.com/- Emporia, KS Based Disc Golf Retailer.
http://www.lsdiscs.net- Topeka, KS Based Disc Golf Retailer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding concrete tee pads and signs at the Ft. Riley course, I am puzzled why nothing has been installed by now. Approx. half of the time I go play that course, somebody ends up approaching us about the course lay-out, where to start, etc. Signs & pads wouldn't take very much money compared to all the other things they are building on base right now. If they just get some basic signs installed, I suspect they would see tons of people pick up the sport.

KDGA fee will get you: 2010 custom disc, 2010 shirt, 2010 bag tag, BBQ in Beloit, food at the banquet, pionts race.
And Bangerrr Bob for a regional rep?

I'm thinking about signing up.
Yes, for $30 you get a disc, shirt, bag tag, and 2 meals.

Banger is the Reg. 2 Rep., he recently moved into the region and will do a great job as a rep.

I wrote my check yesterday to make good on the fund raising pledge I made a while back. It will be a well spent $200 that I will enjoy for a long time!

That means this project has now received $1000 of it's funding from the pockets of disc golf players. These are individuals who simply play the game (don't run a business) and just want another course built. Well done everyone!

Yes, after the fund raising is done, I will post the names of all businesses and individuals who pitched in some of their hard earned cash. Or of course, you will be able to see that info on the course signage once the course is built.

To the people who had to think long & hard about if they could afford to donate, clear up to the generous companies that are paying for a "full" fairway, Good Job! THANKS AGAIN TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED THUS FAR!

On Wednesday night, via e-mail, I received word from a local (Manhattan) business that they wanted to help fund our construction of the disc golf course. I replied telling him that we still needed a little help and it would be great if they could pitch in. They said they wanted to make a "full" fairway level contribution.

So, late yesterday I got word from the City that they received a $400 check from that business. I thought you'd want to know we are $400 closer to being done with fund raising.

What does that mean? That means we only have one "half" fairway ($200) spot still available. That's it! I almost can't believe it myself.

Host a mini tourney at Tuttle Creek. Bring some Beer and Burgers for lunch (that is the payout). Charge $10 or $15 per person. Make sure people know that there will be no payout out this event. The fees will be used as the final donation to the course. You can use it to schedule the work days for the course. I would think with a little promotion you could easily have the funds.

This post was confusing, so I deleted it.
The following posts should better describe things.

Based on some feedback from a couple businesses, I suspect I will have landed the last $200 contribution by the end of the week if not end of the month +/-.

There's no need to host a tourney. Counting the "full" fairway donation that materialized last week, plus the $100 level donors that have pitched in, we've technically raised the amount that's required. However, we we still have one "half" fairway spot available.

Here's how it's looking as of TODAY. The info below will help everyone "see" where we stand.

Hole 1 - $200 (RESERVED by a player)
- - - - - -$200 (RESERVED by a business)

----------------------------------------------
Hole 2 - $400 (RESERVED by a business)
----------------------------------------------
Hole 3 - $200 (RESERVED by a business)
- - - - - -$200 (RESERVED by a business)

----------------------------------------------
Hole 4 - $400 (RESERVED by a business)
----------------------------------------------
Hole 5 - $400 (RESERVED by a business)
----------------------------------------------
Hole 6 - $200 (RESERVED by a group of people)
- - - - - -$200 (AVAILABLE, your name here?)
----------------------------------------------
Hole 7 - $400 (RESERVED by a business)
----------------------------------------------
Hole 8 - $200 (RESERVED by a player)
- - - - - -$200 (RESERVED by a business)

----------------------------------------------
Hole 9 - $200 (RESERVED by a player)
- - - - - -$200 (RESERVED by a business)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLUS, so far we've received three donations that are of the $100 contribution level.
There is no limit to how many $100 donors we can accept (& put on the main sign).
So, if you are considering it you should hurry because we're close to finishing it up.

$100 - (by a player)
$100 - (by a business)
$100 - (by a player who asked to remain anonymous)
$100 - (AVAILABLE, your name here?)
$100 - (AVAILABLE, your name here?)
etc. ....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any money we raise that is over the amount agreed to with the City (9x$400=$3600),
will be put towards any unexpected expenses that may occur (such as shipping), or
even upgrades to items such as better signs, better tee pads, trail improvements, etc.

Sincerely,
Rick

Sorry if I've left you guys feeling like you're in the dark.

I've been meaning to cap off this old thread with the final details of how our fund raising worked out. Then I was going to create a new thread on this site with construction details now that we're in that mode.

However, time has been flying by ... so I have not yet gotten those updates posted here. Hopefully I will get that stuff posted on this site this weekend.

If you want up to the minute updates, follow my posts on http://twitter.com/warnerparkdg. That is where my most recent information will be posted because it is so easy to post on the fly with my phone. I even plan to post a few updates (w/ pics) during the work day. I almost guarantee this is how Mr. Langton knew the baskets have arrived, because he's one of the Warner Park DG followers on Twitter.

Catch you later, Rick
