Sore Finger

Post by Khawk »

This may seem like a crazy question, or hell, maybe not, but does anyone else have any problems with their index finger being extremely sore after throwing a ton? I am primarily a forehand thrower and have been playing quite a bit this winter and my index finger is becoming extremely sore, even building up a callus, which will eventually help I suppose. I realize this obviously comes from the release of the disc, I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem?

I'm laughing at the idea of going on the day-to-day injury list.

Geoff Bennet has a jacked up finger from just what you are talking about.

I use to be a flicker when I first strated playind golf. I remember the funny feeling in the finger. Here would be my advice. Learn to throw backhand, and your flick will be a killer weapon. Learn to use "2 fingers" that is the other name for it.

I do need to continue developing my bh for sure. I do however use two fingers on my fh, the index just catches the lip on every throw.

My 2 finger shot comes off of the middle finger? If it is coming off the index finger, you have something going on.

Do you put you fingers side by side on the rim?

Avery Jenkins "stacks" his fingers on a flick, is that what you do.

It is coming off of my middle finger, but the natural motion causes the disc to slide across the outside of the index finger as it leaves the hand. But yes, the only portion of my finger that truly supports the disc (aside from balance) is the middle finger.

I flick on most shots using the 2-finger, index and middle, and I've built up quite a callus on my index finger thanks to speed demons. I usually wear a band-aid on my finger and that usually keeps my finger from getting sore/blistering, especially if I haven't played in awhile.

Well it's definitely nice to know I'm not alone with this ailment. :)
