Norton Open Sunday August 4th, Sponsored by Fog Valley!

Post by _dm4 »

Norton Open will be Sunday, August 4th.

You might think about playing McCook Nebraska on Saturday, August 3rd!

This course is a gem of a course, with elevation, pine trees, and some very interesting holes! You deserve to play this course. This course is 45 min. NW of Norton. There is camping at the lake on the way back to Norton (5 miles W of Norton). You could also camp at Kents house (probably)! Make plans now to come to McCook, and then Norton on Sunday!

Norton is sponsored by Fog Valley Taxidermy, and there will be $500.00 added cash!!!!

Details to come!

So basically. 3 plays as an island. 14 will be on the dyke again like last year with a mando to make you down the top. 16 will be long. And a little different. 17 will play through the building across some open to an elevated basket. Other than that it be pretty normal. But like last year across all roads, the race track and the parking lot on 15 will be OB.

You don't wanna miss this payouts will be awesomer than ever I think 500 added cash don't be a chump come play mccook on Saturday and norton on Sunday! I'm sure we can arrange some camping and I have 3 beds and a couch. But it's first call first dibs.

The club from McCook is not running a tourney on Saturday the 3rd! Sorry if you already made plans. I am planning on still going to McCook. They have league there on Saturday and anyone can play. It's $5.00 and they give first place all of it, except for $1.00 goes to an ace fund. We can also play another round, or there is a nine hole course on the way back to Norton.

More details soon on Norton Tourney!

Kent has made some sweet trophy's for the Pro Divisions (Open, Master, Women). You will want one! Am's will get one of my trophy's which is a piece of limestone with "Norton '13" written in Sharpie. They are better than nothing. Kent's kick arse for sure!

This year's sponsors include;

Fog Valley Taxidermy
New Age Industrial Corp., Inc.
Cole Family Eyecare
Gils Barber Shop
R. W. Yeager
Deanna Braun Insurance
Natoma Corporation
Western Pest Control
Jay’s Woodwork Shop
Bullock, Inc.

Not sure what to do for players pacs. We are giving most of the money to the pros, but we can for sure do something for Am's. I am thinking we will do a putter this year, and maybe some other stuff. We will see.

This tourney is looking pretty nice! I am gone till Wed. (Band Conference, with no time to play disc golf), so when I get back, we can work on trimming and moving baskets. Do you still have access to a metal detector? Would like to find pins for 5 and 18. Wish we could just put posts in there, but the city wont let us.

Other than a few holes, the course looks good. I asked the guys after league today and besides 4 and 8, they would like the tree on 3 to be a little less sticky. Maybe we can get to it with a ladder. Will talk when I get back.

There are some people posting that they are going to this tourney. That's great! Remember, $500.00 added cash for the pro divisions! Am's will get a players pac! Extra prizes for CTP's! Different longer layout (good for most)! Come and see if you have never been to Norton before. Come back again, if you have. Hope to see you all there!

I am still at the band conference! It's raining!

Played League in Hays yesterday, was very fun! Was raining!

When I get back to Norton, time to trim some trees!

Hey Daren, it's no problem! Hope to see you in Beloit as well. Right now I am planning on it. Keep your fingers crossed!

Tonight was fun in doubles. 8 teams (16 people)! Could be the biggest ever!

Austin/Rodney shot -6 $45.00
Don/Dusty shot -5 $20.00
Trevor/Corey shot -3 $10.00

Kent donated $5 so it was added to 1st place. Austin won some cheesecake brownies for CTP on 7. Everyone got brownies (regular) and candy afterwords. It was a blast!

CTP's all had one disc. (other items included a prizes listed in other posts). Some of them (4) were a "Sirius Astra" from Discs Unlimited and were Color! They were great! Dennis also gave us a great deal on our discs and was a big sponsor for us! Thanks Dennis

Brad Roeder won the 50/50 raffle that Kent did and it was for around 70 bucks! That means Norton got around 65 or so more dollars for baskets. Thanks Kent!

Speaking of Kent; Killer Open, Masters, and Women Trophies! Color maps with rules! Water coolers placed around the course with ice and water! Baskets moved and shuffled! Course trimmed! Challenging course, with a great island shot on 3! Explained course rules! Added score cards both rounds! 50/50 raffle! Stayed after with me and put stuff back and cleaned up trash! Major sponsor, and tourney name, Fog Valley Taxidermy! I am sure I am forgetting something. Thank you Kent!

I averaged out hole 3 scores. It came out to 3.6! I figured it would be higher, because the islands were very small, but people seemed to be able to throw from the dz. I would say good hole!

Thanks to everyone for coming to Norton, it was a lot of fun! See you in Beloit (I hope)!
