March 29th is the annual fund raiser for the Kansas Disc Sport Scholarship. We have $527.91 to give away this year and already have one applicant. The course this year has been upgraded with four new holes and two holes that have been upgraded. More details will follow as tourney time draws closer but mark this one on your calendar as this is one you don't want to miss.

From what I hear, there won't be any problem finding your disc this year. The pasture out back got burned off so no high grass. This should be a unique playing opportunity to play in such an environment.

Due to the fire on 8 holes of the new part of the course; Jeff and I laid out a course on the hay meadow that goes to the top of the hill. For those old timers that remember playing this course back in the 80s, you won't want to miss this tourney. The holes are mostly open and long. If there is no wind, I'd say that half are birdies or easy pars for short arms; and three are tough pars, and the eighth routine par. The front of the property will be mostly the same as last year.

Entry fees will be like last year. Pro and Adv were $30 and the other divisions were $20. There is some discussion to bump both of these up $5 and I will post again when final. If you would like to comment on this issue, feel free to do so here. Remember that this is a scholarship fundraising event and $10 of your entry fee goes to the scholarship. There will be mulligans availabe again this year. We sold 5 for $5 last year that could be used anywhere anytime. (Also supports Scholarship). And finally, Shauns Big Hot Meat will be there doing some kind of lunch thing. Stay tuned for further details.

Three posts in a row. Wanted to break up the information. Two years ago we gave away just over $300. Last year was over $350. And this year is over $500. Part of this increase is due to being able to obtain higher interest on our funds. Part of this is also due to your generous support of this program. Thanks and lets keep it up. I know the students appreciate it.

I know the students appreciate it! Because last year my brother Kyle was awarded the fund. It helped him get a good start at WSU. He is doing well, working to help pay his way. I hope to get Kyle out there again this year. That was a really fun tourney for him last year.

On the mulligans, I'd say the $5 for 5 would be not too bad. It is a supertour event, so we want everyone to be on a level playing field. If there is just one number of mulligans you can get, and it is affordable at $5 or less, then hopefully everyone would get them, and it would be fair.

Way too many and not nearly enough!
That was just a bonus point event though. I like the idea of raising money, but we should try to keep the playing field fair. That is why I think the 5 for $5 is a good idea.

Thanks Smitty- All donations are a welcomed addition to our prize payout. We try to give 100% back in value minus of course the costs of ace, funding the scholarship, etc. Having free plastic to use gives us more money to the scholarship. Speaking of donations- Jeff is once again hiring Shauns Big Hot Meat to do lunch again for everyone. I would only encourage everyone to bring their own liquid refreshments.

Here is the final low down on the tourney In order to have larger payouts to the winners, we have decided to bump the entry fee. Read on. Open men and advanced will be $35. All other Pro will remain at $30. All other Am divisions will be $25. Juniors will remain at $20.
What this includes: $2 KDGA fee that will be turned back to the Scholarship; $8 for the scholarship fund for 2009; $3 for an ace fund (You can opt out of the ace fund at the time of registration and get your $3 back); free lunch and two rounds of 18 Rockin' holes of golf.
There will also be mulligans for sale; 5 for $5 to be used whenever, however you want. This money also goes to the scholarship. You can only buy five so use them wisely.
Shaun's Big Hot Meat has been hired by Jeff to provide lunch. This year is Buffalo Burgers and Brats I believe. Of course Donations are welcomed but not required.
And Finally, The Top 35 scores (maybe more) will recieve a special trophy thanking you for your support. Top two in each division will receive one and then it will go by best scores for the tournament.

How to get there From Kellogg Road which is Route 54/400. The intersection of Andover Road and Kellogg (East of Wichita) go 5 miles south. Turn East (wide spot in the road with a turning lane with a sign that says Augusta. Go 4 miles to TaWaKoNi Road. Turn South about 5/8 mile (Across the railroad tracks). Entrance on the East side of the road.
If you are coming from Augusta traveling west, Turn South at the first traffic light you encounter (Santa Fe Lake Road). Go Five miles and turn west on Thunder Road. This is the first road after crossing the railroad tracks. Go one mile (cross the railroad tracks again) and go the 5/8 mile to the entrance (cross the railroad tracks yet again).
The east-west road is called 150th Street. This is the same as 47th street in Wichita.

Who is going to be there?
The BBQ is KiLLeR! The trophies are OUTSTANDING. The course is more fun every year. This event is just a good time. The numbers are growing every year.
