Pawhuska Ok. has a new private course designed by Kevin McCoy.The owner of the property has an earth moving business!The Twisted Flyer Organization (in the person of Joe Rotan)is helping Kevin out as he is busy with his new child!This will be a B-tier PDGA sanctioned event for more info go to twistedflyer.com.I thought it sounded cool

for anybody that doesn`t know, Pawhuska is 45 miles east of Ponca on highway 60.I expect elevation ,water hazards ,and knowing Kevin,some very difficult holes

FULL CAMPING at the event, with showers to wash away those bad rounds.

There is still some minor work to be done but the course will be officially open for business this Saturday.

This course is a private course with Green Fees ...There will be an honor box at Tee 1 if Jim doesn't happen to be there. It's in the country so country boys aint afraid to get the ole shotgun out for non-paying tresspassers

The baskets are marked with paint pointing you to the next tees, so you shouldn't need a map, but there will be maps, scorecards available very soon. There is still some fine tuning to do out there with tee signs coming, trash cans coming and benches coming but the course itself is ready for action.

WOW Looks like fun

This tourney will be bad arse! Heard a lot of good things about this course.

That island green looks tough! The hole is downhill, but I don't know that will make it too much easier. Looks like a real sand bunker in that last picture.

Had a chance to check out the course yesterday! the course is bad to the bone The coolest thing is the owner of the property and his wife.Jim is new to the sport but is enthusiastic and can move dirt at will!
Kevin McCoy has done a good job of laying out red, white and blue tees!
All that leaves is GOLD and I have a few ideas for Jim on that
The course played tough but, it is still not finished.It still needs fine tuning ,tee pads,signage, a map and one more mowing!
A few warnings :1)Bring insect repellent
2)this is a"natural" course, watch for snakes etc.
3)take plenty of water blue=7200ft+
local restuarants include a good mexican rest.(which my wife recomends)
sonic,pizza hut,bad brad`s bbq etc
call before making the trip .Jim is awesome,but also has a life besides golf

Just found this on the PDGA board...

"Diver will be there collecting discs...Since the lake was man made, it was taken into consideration that it is very shallow around the island...we are manufacturing a retrieval device that will stay chained up to the pole on the island so you can retrieve your discs "

Wow! That looks amazing! I almost want to change my labor day weekend plans but really need to go home and see my family.

Me and my family will be coming back from Arkansas on Sunday. I can't play the tournament, but I'd love to play one round to check the course out. I'm guessing the tourney will not be over yet. If the tourney isn't full, we could probably squeeze into a gap somewhere. Is this a bad idea? I'll try to check back later to see if the tourney fills.

Got to play this course just after the final round finished up.

This was a very fun course! Lots of downhill tees and some tricky greens on mounds. 4 par 4's and a par 5, so plenty of length variety. The front nine favored the righty, but the back was pretty neutral. This course had a lot of varied terrain. It resembled a Texas course, and this is in Northern Oklahoma.

They had red, white, and blue tees. We tried this out with Plamen playing red, my dad on white, and me on blue. Plamen shot 52 (personal record), my dad shot 60, and I shot 55. I'd be interested to see, but I'd guess blue rated golf (950 rated) would be around 57. So the course par was a little high, but that's just fine. White tees may have played closer to par 60, but red was much easier, which is probably good for red level players.

Most memorable holes... I'd say hole 9 was pretty killer. Straight and uphill shot with the basket in the middle of some big rocks. Hole 10 was a two turn par 4. Great hole, but the backstop at the end made the putt a little too easy. Trees actually help on holes 6 and 14. Hole 3 was easy to get a 4 if you tried to get a 4. Easy to 5 if you go for 3. That hole would be impossible for lefty. 16 and 17 were great water holes! My dad lost 2 discs on each hole, but he a little too nervous about the water. 17 is plenty short enough, but that island is pretty small!

Only a couple of hours from Winfield/Wichita, everyone has to check out this course.
