Good luck to all of you attending. Let's try to keep at least one of those awesome trophies from leaving the state.

Confusing change on the website....

From the Website:

"Wednesday:
Emporia Country Club 9:00am - 2:00pm Practice at $6/round
Emporia Municipal Course 9:00am - 2:00pm - Dark Practice at $6/round

Thursday:
Emporia Country Club 9:00am - 12:00pm Practice at $6/round
Emporia Municipal Course 9:00am - 2:00pm - Practice at $6/round"

Is the Municipal open Wednesday from 2pm to dark? Or 9am to 2pm? I really hope it is 2 til dark. Tough enough that it isn't open later on Thursday.

I have to agree- the practice schedule for the golf courses is sad. We won't even get there until almost 2 on Thurs... not that I'm playing, but it'd be nice if my friends could practice. Should try to get at least 1 open for practice later on Thurs. I mean we are bringing like 450 people to Emporia, surely the golf clubs will make lots of $ off us from the pay to play & drinky-poos...

I'd like to know is this schedule tee-off before 2? or be off the course at 2? On thursday

I am trying to get to the bottom of this. I do understand that it may be inconvenient to many of us. I also understand that our $6/person is far short of what they would/could make by opening it to the pubic for golf.

I would assume that it will be a start by 2:00 and get off the course by around 5:30?? But that is just my assumption.

It may also be possible to jump on a course ahead of the tourney. I don't know that it would be a big deal to get out and play the back 9 or 12 holes? Once again, I am just assuming that would be OK.

I will chime in when I know more.

I just talked to Chris at DD and he said you had to start by 2:00 and be off by dark! Basically you can't get on the course after 2:00p!!

Per the latest update on the GBO events page...same schedule for Wednesday and Thursday.
Emporia Country Club 9:00am - 2:00pm Practice at $6/round - Players need to be off the course by 5:30pm
Emporia Municipal Course 2:00pm - 8:00pm Practice at $6/round
Looks like we may be in for some rough weather... Smitty - you know if the TDs will be giving instructions at Hole 1 in case of inclement weather or anything? Looks like there are some newbies, especially in the Intermediate division...

Yes, all TD's at all courses will give a similar speech before their groups heads out on the course.

I will have a signal in the RV, I am sure both golf courses have a signal they normally use and will use if needed. The last thing we want is for anyone to get zapped by lightning.

Rain is another thing. It would have to be a pretty serious sideways downpour to suspend play.

Here are the rules for those who don't know:
1.7 Suspension of Play

A. If, in the opinion of the director, excessive rain or hazardous conditions exist that make it impractical or dangerous to continue play, the tournament shall be suspended. The signal to suspend play shall be the same as the signal to start.

B. Players shall immediately stop play and mark the lie of each member of the group. A natural object is sufficient to mark the approximate lie from which the player shall resume play. Players shall then return to the first teeing area, clubhouse, tournament central or area designated by the director.

C. Players shall resume play from their approximate lies as established when the round was halted. The approximate lie is determined by a majority of the group.

D. The director may allow players to take a break while waiting for weather to improve, but may require players to return at a time assigned by the director until play resumes or until the round is postponed.

Jasons post above regarding practice times is correct.

CC must start by 2:00 abs be off by 5:30.
Municipal not before 2:00 and done by dark.

For those of you wanting to save your legs, carts will be available to rent during practice rounds at the municipal, and for spectators during the tourney.

That is awesome. That may be a better promo than the video.

I'm heading up tomorrow to check out these courses. Anybody want to carpool?

I ordered a tee sign sponsorship and may be passing through E-town on my way to Iowa on Friday. Anybody know where I could pick mine up?

Did not heed Smitty's advice and played all three courses in one day (throwing multiple drives from every tee.) I need some of the magic spray they use in Italian soccer matches--you know the kind that fixes broken legs?

2 things I learned:

1) There is a mess of quality disc golf holes on those three courses. I still think it would be nice to play one shorter course (right now the expanded Jones East seemed like it played the shortest) but what an awesome challenge. Looking forward to watching some of the best in the world attack these humdingers.

2) I remembered why I keep playing the GBO (even though I've laid an egg every year): I played golf today with folks from Wichita, DFW, Houston, Louisiana, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Finland. And everyone of them would help you look for your disc until you told them to quit. Some of them even let me skitch a ride on the back of their golf carts (Until Uli told me it was against the rules.)

The whole city is waiting for us. If I get this arm sewn back on by then, I'll see y'all in Emporia.
