Win Biggins! Not long ago he was worried about not being able to compete at the next level. Huge win already. If you were at the awards, you know Ben has a lot of fans here. I look forward to watching this guy take it to the big dogs. Nice win Ben!

Hell yeah Wiggins! That is some pimp #%#@

Noticed that both Hornings have the wrong PDGA number. Don't know if there are more or not. Just thought you might want to fix it.

Par 54 was not broken from the long tees!Schoen-hopper wrote: Long tees played brutal. Ronnie & Bo shot 54 for the hot round at Oak. Zach & Brad Roeder shot 57 for best at HH.
Day 2 best at HH was 55 from Ronnie & Coda. Zach again had best at Oak with 56.

Incredible that I could be a MUCH shorter player than everyone else in the top 5 and one of the worst putters ANYWHERE, and manage to shoot the best scores from the long tees. Both rounds were marred by a few loose upshots that I left 25-30 ft away. Could have easily got away with out making a bogey all weekend except on #6 long at HH(which for all intents and purposes is a par 4). Had 4 bogeys total going into my last round. Every 4 I made was from a below avg upshot, and from what I can remember I never took a penalty stroke...All in all it was the kind of event that I usually play well in. It wasnt a birdie fest, which is good because I dont putt well enuff to compete in those, and the wind blew a little making every shot more demanding and my approach game and ability to play the wind are certainly my strengths. $230 and a basket aint a bad weekends work!!
..... Again, congrats to my boy Ben! There was only a few there to see it, but his entire event turned around on one shot in the first round. He made the sickest par ever on 17 long at Oak. 350ft flick shot that flexed big and nearly skipped in. No disrespect to the ace that was hit or to Ben's great Roc in the playoff but THAT was the best shot of the tourney!!! And one of the best shots I've ever seen!!!

Approx SSA's for day 2 were 55 & 49 for HH, 55 & 48 again at Oak.Schoen-hopper wrote: Approx SSA's (1000 rated golf) are 56 & 50 for HH, 55 & 48 at Oak.
SSA's at the Round Up average around 49 for Red/Blue average. I'd suspect around 47 & 52 for long / short. Meaning the course plays at least 4 strokes tougher for long pins compared to short pins. And about 5 strokes tougher for the different in short & long pads. Between 56 for long to long & 47 short to short, there is a about a 9 stroke difference at Herman Hill for shorties to tips.
So HH with about 1/2 stroke more difficulty overall. Average estimated round rating for all 8 pool*rounds is right at 52. Which is actually a stroke less than last year.

Words can't describe. 50 feet off the box, maybe, around an ever green, over the dike, back over the dike, and almost in. wowsersjump_putter wrote:Again, congrats to my boy Ben! Great win Ben! Doo dah was a fun as always.
I didn't really care for the short then long layouts. I really liked what Wichita had going with the red and blue layouts as to get a good mix of the holes. Also, playing longs for the last round really took it out of a player. Playing Long, then short last day would have helped a lot of players conserve and use their energy more efficiently.

Why didn't you conserve your energy on the short course? That doesn't sound efficient to me.
The layouts were designed so the final round would be the most difficult. The winners would have to earn it. I believe they enjoyed the layouts, but there was a lot of suffering the final round for most of the players. I guess that's what I enjoy.

Would the winners not have had to earn it in any other layout?iqbal wrote: The winners would have to earn it.

Personally, I prefer the red & blue layouts for tournaments because they give much better variety of hard to birdie holes & hard to par holes. It's cool we did this once to find out how difficult our course really is. Red & Blue just give you an average.

I'm with iqbal on this, thought the final round really put pressure on your mental thoughness.
Re: 21st Annual Doo Dah, June 5th & 6th
The layout was set by the TD and I enjoyed it. If we do it that way again, I would like to see short, long, long, short. That way you warm up, play the middle working your a$$ off, then finish trying to make up strokes. We play all long sometimes at club and it is challenging. Focus is a big deal and I had none in the wind on Saturday, but was able to on Sunday and tore OAK up. Long and short. (for me anyway) I had a good time, it was alot of work and I now have a ton of respect for anyone who volunteers at tourneys to make things run smoothly. Thanks to all for coming!!!!!

I think some old guy also shot 55 at HHSchoen-hopper wrote:Par 54 was not broken from the long tees!Schoen-hopper wrote: Long tees played brutal. Ronnie & Bo shot 54 for the hot round at Oak. Zach & Brad Roeder shot 57 for best at HH.

Props to the club for the effort made on this tourney. I look forward to seeing next years event, which I'm sure will be even better! Good times
