2012 OZ tour WILL be kick-started Saturday @ Derby. Killer turn out last year. Must be because of the fun course and Handeye Hospitality. As my distinguished colleague has already articulated, GET SOME.

Werd is Crispin and crew are throwing down the string on the course again this year to clear up any OB confusion. Lots of work here.

Don't let the weather forecast scare you away, this is a cant miss event. The city of derby maintains this course VERY well, tons of prizes and at least $500 in added cash, not to mention a sweet player pack. BE THERE!

They took the rain out of the forecast until tommorow night. Let's do this thing!

Thanks Hand-Eye Corp. for a great event. The turnout proves what kind of event it was. And we know you guys will continue to make it better each year. It is rare to enjoy a bad round, but that first one was a surprisingly good time. As the open field grows, so improves the competition. Truly enjoy competing against the course, nature, and you guys.

Well said, Nasty.

Poor ol Kingpin is gonna have to be ready with online registration next year. And it is no wonder everyone turned out: the sheer tonnage of swag that was given away was obscene. We ran out of daylight because it took so long to give out all that gear and cash.

An off the cuff list of the things that got doled out via ctp's, upshot competitions, and ring of fire include:
  • first run buzz
    2nd first run valk
    USDGC champ roc
USDGC roc signed by Will Shustrick
    10 or so T-shirts
    sweatshirt
    hats and beenies
    gift cards
    5 or so discs/putters
and OVER $200 in COLD HARD CASH
That is just silly.

My guess is that Kingpin hasn't posted yet because the list of people that volunteered, donated, and/or drummed up sponsors would break the internet. That or he is in a coma.

The course looked amazing and played waaaaaaay quicker and safer with the 4500' of OB string. Still a full house, but at least no one was ever playing towards you in your fairway.

Huge thanks to the city crew for all the clean-up/maintenance/porto-johns/etc... and also to Marty Hicks (I hope I got that right) for spreading mulch. Would've been a looooong day with clay boots. (Marty, my black PDGA disc is a Stratus not a Stalker but I've got both a Z and ESP Stalker with the KC Worlds stamp. If one of those works for you, say the word.)

Had a great card both rounds. The second round didn't even feel like a tournament--just another round with my home-away-from-home crew. It was HandEye heavy towards the top 8)

Sounded like Vahsholtz switched over to "automatic" mode for the second round. Congrats!

Thanks be to King, HandEye, and all the folks that put this humdinger together. I hope every KDGA season starts with bash down in Derby.

If you were in Derby for the Player Meeting you will appreciate how SHORT this post will be.

-THANK YOU TO EVERYONE OF THE 90 PLAYERS that made it out to Derby on Saturday. No Rain and the course was looking top notch!!!

-THANK YOU TO ALL THE SPONSORS AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED!!!:
JASON CHILDRE, JASON ADKINS, ANDY HORNING, JEFF RING, MARTY HUNT, FREDDY'S, LIL' BUSTERS, UNRUH, ROCK LIQOUR, VICTORY TATTOO, HANDEYE SUPPLYCO., DYNAMIC DISCS, MACEMAN, SNG, DISC GOLF MANIA, ACDGC, MIKE SCHOENHOFER, HEIBERT & DECKER CPAs, TULL, CURTIS BROADHURST, CHERRY BERRY, WHEAT STATE PIZZA, 5NAKEFORK RECORDS, DISCS UNLIMITED, BILL PAULSON, HOWARD DINE, SCOTT PARKER and anyone that I may have left off. (From the tournament, to the after party, to 3 hours of sleep, to back up at Derby Sunday morning to get the string, flags, and tees picked up, to my sister's birthday luncheon, I am still in zombie mode and may have left a couple out.)

-THANK YOU TO THE Handeye Team for helping me get thru an insane day, these guys are like brothers to me, especially Bo because he is my actual brother:
Bo, Wiggins, Swede, Fluty, JD. Also my Dad and beautiful daughter, Cali, for helping out with, setting up, sign-in, scorecards, etc.

-THANK YOU HAS TO GO TO MY WIFE FOR HELPING ME BE REALLY ORGANIZED THIS TIME AROUND. I WISH MY LADY AND MY BOYS WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT THERE TO SEE WHAT A GREAT TURNOUT WE HAD!

-AND A LAST THANK YOU TO THE CITY OF DERBY FOR TURNING THE STONE CREEK AREA INTO A BEAUTIFUL PEICE OF LAND AND HOOKING UP SOME EXTRA PORTO-JOHNS. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO DERBY IN A WHILE, YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY BY THE TRANSFORMATION!

-With all the thank yous taken care of I do want to apologize for the disorganization of the awards and payout. a lot was learned and the proper adjustments will be made so next year run's smoother. we hope to have this event a little later in march to gain another hour of sunlight. after a meeting with the Physics of Flight Bureau, proper course modifications will be made and the possibility of a couple of added temp holes for next year will only add more kick-assness to the 3rd Annual Fore!Fathers Fling. IF THERE IS ANY SUGGESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, ETC. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PM ME, OR EMAIL ME @[email protected] is not lip service...any input you feel will make next year a better experience for you and other competitors, WE WANT TO HEAR IT AND WILL TAKE ALL WORDS INTO CONSIDERATION IN THE PLANNING AND EXECUTION OF NEXT YEAR'S Fling!

FINALLY...CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR'S WINNERS AND A SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR 2012 FORE!FATHERS FLING OPEN DIVISION CHAMPION, Brandon "The Swede" Nelson! With a great 2nd round and the lead card having team Handeye mojo, you earned it. great golfing with you!
