FINAL RESULTS

270 players, 50 members

Points were figured slightly differently than usual for the Glass Blown Open. And what a headache it was. But all in the spirit of fairness. Since different divisions played different courses twice, we took the average score from rounds 1 & 4 and added that to rounds 2 & 3. Now just so that people within a division wouldn't balk at seeing their order of finish not congruent with the actual results for that division, we stipulated that within each division, total score and not "average" score would decide points ranking. In case of a tie within a division on total score, a tie resulted regardless of average score. If 2 not in the same division tied with average score, total score decided the points ranking.

Format below is Tour Points (x 3), Division, Player Name, Average Score, Total Score

For Divisions, 1=Open, 2=Open Women, 3=Masters, 4=Grandmasters, 5=Advanced, 6=Am Master, 7=Advanced Women, 8=Advanced Grandmaster, 9=Intermediate, 10=Intermediate Women, 11=Recreational.

I will resort these points and use pool rather than division, for which we will use total score instead of average score. The average score will then just apply for sorting players from different divisions in different pools.

If we do things the same next year, we may just state really simply beforehand that the first round will be thrown out. Or the pools will be ranked in order (all of A, then all of B, then all of C). I have 5 or 6 hours in already and Chris Tyler probably as much.

Mike, this is wrong. Atleast it is for me. I played the same courses as Bo Carrasco at the same time and beat him by a stroke. His total score was 226, mine 225. But your "weighted" score gives Bo a 165.5 and me a 169.5. I think you should throw out your calculations and start over.

FINAL RESULTS

270 players, 52 members

Originally, since everyone wouldn't play the same courses for all 4 rounds, it was decided to go with something that would be fair across all divisions, which was to average the 1st & 4th rounds and add to the 2nd & 3rd rounds for points ranking purpose. Then some said that players wouldn't like this if it didn't end up matching the rankings of the final total standings. So it was adjusted so that total score trumped average score in terms of ranking points. Then there was further complaining that points didn't match up to tournament rankings for those in different divisions, but within the same pool. So here are the final results where average score was only used for sorting players from different pools. Sorry for the confusion, but thanks for the help getting these right.

I understand why you think you are getting the shaft. I would think the same thing if I was in your shoes. With that said we had much discussion on the private thread of the forum dealing with this very topic. We hoped to keep someone who played an easier course from passing people who played the harder course.
